Developer of Cardiac Interventional Surgical Robots
VCBeat has learned at the earliest opportunity that recently, Mayo XinCi (Meio CadiNav Medical) completedPre-A+round of financing. This round was led by Zhenghong FundCollarCapital,Existing shareholders, including Shun'an Capital, participated in the follow-on investment. The proceeds from the financing will be used to supplement Mayo Heart MagnetismSelf-builtGMPConstruction of Cleanroom Manufacturing Facilities, and the Advancement“Titian”Cardiac ElectrophysiologyAtrial FibrillationClinical Trials of Surgical Robots.
It is worth noting that Mayo Magneto has completed its second round of financing this year, just three months after the previous round.
The rapid completion of multiple funding rounds in a short period fully demonstrates Mayo Magnetic’s core competitiveness and investment value, while also reflecting investors’ expectations for the commercialization prospects of its surgical robot.
Dr. Chen Yuemeng, founder of Mayo CardioMagnetism, stated that the successful completion of these two financing rounds marks a milestone in the company’s development.
With the support of two rounds of financing, Mayo Heart Magnet’s production base has been successfully completed. This signifies that Mayo Heart Magnet now possesses the capability for mass production of Class III active medical devices and consumables, truly entering the clinical stage. Currently, the Mayo Heart Magnet production base has officially commenced operations, initiating mass production of surgical robot products and associated consumables.
Mayo CardioMag was established in June 2018, co-founded by Dr. Chen Yuemeng and Professor Lu Caiyi, Director of the Department of Cardiology at the Chinese PLA General Hospital (301 Hospital). The company is dedicated to the research and development of navigation technologies for cardiac interventional procedures and interventional surgical robots, focusing on the development of a magnetic navigation platform for cardiology and a product portfolio of magnetic catheters and related consumables. Headquartered in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province, Mayo CardioMag has established core R&D centers in Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Shaoxing.
Mayo CardioMagnetic has established a robust intellectual property barrier, having secured 31 granted patents and filed 47 invention patent applications. It possesses core technologies including the Titian “Titian” cardiac electrophysiology surgical navigation robot and the Raphaello “Raffaello” surgical robot—a flexible magnetic navigation stereotactic positioning and precise ablation system.
Mayo Heart Magnetism’s innovatively developed “Titian” cardiac electrophysiology surgical robot is dedicated to performing the most complex remote robotic procedures for atrial fibrillation. It is compatible with universal electrophysiological mapping and ablation catheters as well as guiding sheaths. By innovatively adopting a dual-control propulsion system, it achieves integrated operative control of both sheaths and catheters. Its millimeter-level catheter manipulation precision fully meets the requirements for arrhythmia and atrial fibrillation surgeries, while maximizing the reduction of intraoperative X-ray fluoroscopy time.
The “Titian” surgical robot and its compatible consumables are integrated with mainstream 3D mapping systems, positioning it as a promising candidate for the safest domestic solution for atrial fibrillation ablation in the future. In the first half of 2021, Mayo Heart Magnetism successfully completed the animal trials for the “Titian” cardiac electrophysiology surgical navigation robot.
Mayo Heart-Mag’s Flexible Magnetic Navigation Surgical Robot Platform Features Three Major Innovations:
Remote Surgical Command System:"Enabling physicians to perform complex cardiac procedures, such as those for atrial fibrillation, remotely and free from X-ray radiation exposure, efficiently realizing the dream of interventional surgeons."
Active Power System for Catheters:Replaces manual operation to achieve precise and stable catheter manipulation, addressing accuracy issues such as hand tremors, over-rotation, excessive bending, and displacement, thereby ensuring surgical stability throughout the procedure.
High-Precision Navigation Surgical System:Innovatively achieving a navigation accuracy of 0.1 mm and 0.1 degrees, the flexible catheter enhances the safety of interventional procedures, significantly reducing cardiac perforation complications and preventing medical accidents.
Since its inception, Mayo Cardio-Magnetic has been committed to becoming a leader in robotic systems for cardiac interventional procedures, developing revolutionary intelligent catheterization laboratory surgical solutions, and has garnered recognition from all sectors of society. In 2021, Mayo Cardio-Magnetic successively won the Second Prize in the “Bethune Cup” Medical Device Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and the First Prize in the Artificial Intelligence and Medical Software Startup Category Finals of the 4th (2021) China Medical Device Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.
Guo Bing, founding partner of Zhenghong Fund, stated that the investment in Mayo Heart Magnetism was driven by two key factors: first, the professional, dedicated, persistent, cohesive, and dynamic entrepreneurial team led by Dr. Chen Yuemeng; and second, the forward-thinking and innovative nature of Mayo Heart Magnetism’s overall product design philosophy. “Mayo Heart Magnetism is committed to independent R&D, holds core technologies, and has secured nearly 100 patents and intellectual property rights, placing it within a sector supported by national industrial policies.”
In addition to providing Mayo Heart Magnetism with financial support, Zhenghong Fund will leverage the extensive experience of its core team in the medical device industry, along with its professionally established, state-of-the-art medical device testing laboratory and specialized teams for product clinical trials and regulatory submissions. By fully integrating industry resources, Zhenghong Fund will provide targeted business support to Mayo Heart Magnetism, facilitating the timely completion of regulatory approval and market launch of its products.
Looking ahead, Chen Yuemeng stated that Mayo Heart Magnetism will continue to invest in the research and development of a globally leading flexible magnetic navigation surgical platform for cardiac procedures, constantly enhancing product safety and therapeutic efficacy to achieve 100% safety throughout the entire process of cardiac treatment or surgery. “We anticipate obtaining regulatory approval for our rigid-catheter surgical robot within three years, enabling its entry into hospitals; and we aim to gradually introduce our flexible surgical robot into clinical practice within five years.”
