Sina Medicine Launches Call for Nominations for the 2021 Annual Industry Awards

2021 marks both the inaugural year of the 14th Five-Year Plan and the new starting point for the golden decade of the “Healthy China 2030” strategy.

Globally, Chinese pharmaceutical and healthcare companies that have withstood the test of the pandemic are continuously seeking development paths that match global standards and foster mutual progress and win-win outcomes with international partners, striving to embark on a new journey.

Under such circumstances, how the industry can identify a development path toward high-quality innovation in the future has become a question jointly explored by the entire sector.

To document and bear witness to the trajectory of transformative change in our era, and to uncover and highlight the power of role models,“2021 Sina Medicine Annual Comprehensive Review List”The awards selection process has arrived as scheduled.

Since its inception in 2016, the Sina Medicine Annual Awards have been held for five consecutive years, selecting batch after batch of role models and benchmarks in China’s pharmaceutical and health industries that demonstrate pioneering spirit, breakthrough innovation, transformative growth, and a commitment to public welfare.

The ranking adheres to the principle of maximizing influence and value, inviting numerous media outlets and authoritative institutions to participate in the certification process, thereby striving to enhance synergy and brand impact.

The registration channel officially opened on November 8, 2021. Eligible individuals, enterprises, products, and projects are welcome to participate in the evaluation.

Evaluation Criteria:

1. The enterprise entity of the candidate must be a formally registered company within China;

2. Influence: The nominees can provide new ideas and initiatives for industry development, playing a positive role in promotion and guidance; they are highly credible and influential leading figures in the industry;

3. Leadership: The nominee demonstrates exceptional leadership capabilities, with significant achievements in corporate strategy, product portfolio, and organizational structure. In 2021, they led their enterprise to achieve major results or substantial leapfrog development, serving as an industry role model and benchmark;

4. Annual Contribution: The nominee led their enterprise to make significant contributions to social development in 2021, serving as an outstanding role model with remarkable achievements this year and gaining widespread recognition across the industry.

2021 Annual Pioneering Leaders in the Pharmaceutical Industry

Evaluation Criteria:

1. The enterprise entity where the nominee works is a formally registered company within China;

2. Innovation: The nominee demonstrates strong independent innovation awareness, and the products, technologies, projects, or management models they have led exhibit industry-level innovativeness and disruptiveness, having already generated certain social benefits;

3. Management Capability: The nominees have actively explored and achieved significant results in corporate management, product portfolio strategy, talent development, and market operations, thereby continuously enhancing the company’s internal drive and enabling rapid business growth;

4. Annual Performance: The nominees demonstrated outstanding performance in their respective fields in 2021, serving as exemplary representatives marked by numerous highlights and rapid progress, and have received high recognition from the industry.

1. The participating enterprises must be formally registered entities within China;

2. Competitiveness: The products, technologies, or projects of the participating enterprises possess core competitiveness within the industry, command a high market share, and hold a leading position in their respective niche segments;

3. Reputation: Participating enterprises prioritize production safety, operate with integrity and compliance, actively engage in public welfare initiatives, and effectively balance employee rights and occupational health. They serve as positive social role models, enjoying high brand awareness and an excellent reputation.

4. Revenue-Generating Capability: The participating enterprises demonstrated outstanding operational performance in 2021, serving as advanced models that achieved remarkable progress in revenue, profit, market share, and growth scale, thereby setting a benchmark for industry development.

Most Investable Companies in the Pharmaceutical Industry in 2021

Evaluation Criteria:

1. The participating enterprises must be formally registered entities within China;

2. Product Potential: The products/technologies/projects under the participating enterprises possess certain industry-leading advantages in dimensions such as innovativeness, market competitiveness, market development potential, and market size;

3. Market Potential: The products/technologies/projects of the participating enterprises have already generated certain economic benefits or have good profit expectations;

4. Others: Priority will be given to applicant enterprises that disclosed performance results widely recognized by the market in 2021, possess multiple achievements in technological commercialization or have received award recognitions, and/or have completed financing rounds.

2021 Annual R&D Innovation Enterprise in the Pharmaceutical Industry

Evaluation Criteria:

1. The participating business entities are enterprises formally registered within the territory of China;

2. Innovation Strength: Participating enterprises demonstrate strong independent R&D and innovation capabilities, with R&D outcomes or products and services under development that are highly innovative and disruptive, providing new solutions for industry development; they achieved significant innovations or breakthroughs in relevant fields in 2021;

3. R&D Investment: Participating companies prioritize sustained investment in research and development, with their annual R&D expenditure ratio or growth rate highly regarded within the industry;

4. R&D Team: The participating enterprise prioritizes the development of its R&D team, with a high proportion of technical personnel engaged in R&D and related technological innovation activities relative to the total number of employees in the current year.

2021 Annual Brand Innovation Enterprises in the Pharmaceutical Industry

Evaluation Criteria:

1. The participating enterprises must be officially registered traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) enterprises or pharmaceutical retail enterprises within China;

2. Innovation and Transformation Capability: The participating enterprises achieved remarkable results in 2021 in areas such as operational management, brand planning, and product/technology/service innovation, demonstrating a certain level of innovative transformation capability and industry leadership;

3. Revenue Generation Capability: The participating enterprises demonstrated outstanding operational performance in 2021, serving as exemplary models that achieved remarkable progress in revenue, profit, market share, and growth scale for the year;

4. Reputation: The participating enterprises enjoy a good reputation within the upstream and downstream sectors of the industry, and their products/technologies/services have established a certain level of awareness and positive reputation among consumers.

2021 Innovative Medical Device Manufacturing Enterprise

Evaluation Criteria:

1. The participating enterprise must be a formally registered medical device company within China;

2. Influence: The participating enterprises demonstrate reliable product quality and excellent service in their production and operations, possess a certain market scale and industry influence, and achieved significant economic benefits in 2021;

3. Innovation: Participating enterprises focus on innovative scientific research and development in the healthcare sector, continuously injecting new momentum into the medical device industry and introducing new products; priority will be given to those with certain intellectual property achievements in 2021;

4. Intelligent Manufacturing Capability: Participating enterprises should actively explore advanced intelligent manufacturing, artificial intelligence, and big data, leveraging next-generation information technology, new energy, and new materials to deliver innovative solutions for the industry.

2021 Digital Health Brand Enterprises

Evaluation Criteria:

1. The participating business entities must be formally registered enterprises within the territory of China;

2. Participating enterprises continuously make innovative attempts in digital healthcare services (including: AI healthcare, digital health companies, medical big data, internet healthcare, healthcare IT enterprises, etc.), and achieve relatively rapid growth within a certain period;

3. Participating enterprises can provide effective solutions to address market health needs and promote the sustainable development of the industry;

4. The products, technologies, or services of the participating enterprises have achieved positive market reception during practical implementation and are widely recognized by the industry.

Most Watched Innovative Drugs/Therapies of 2021

Evaluation Criteria:

1. The business entity of the enterprise to which the drug/therapy under evaluation belongs is a formally registered enterprise within China;

2. The nominated drug/therapy achieved significant progress in 2021, offering hope for addressing unmet clinical needs of patients; priority will be given to those with high user satisfaction and strong industry recognition;

3. The drug/therapy under evaluation possesses certain market competitiveness and potential, having already generated economic benefits or demonstrating strong profit expectations;

4. Priority will be given to drugs/therapies that have received recognition from science and technology innovation awards.

2021 Most Socially Responsible Enterprise in the Pharmaceutical Industry

Evaluation Criteria:

1. The participating enterprise must be a formally registered entity within the territory of China;

2. Priority will be given to participating enterprises that have actively assumed social responsibilities and demonstrated outstanding performance during major public health emergencies, and have played a significant role in the development of the pharmaceutical industry or made prominent contributions with notable achievements;

3. Enjoys a strong reputation across the industry’s upstream and downstream sectors, with its products/technologies/services achieving a certain level of brand awareness and favorability among consumers;

4. While generating profits and fulfilling responsibilities to shareholders, the company effectively safeguards employee rights and occupational health, earning a strong reputation; it prioritizes production safety and resource conservation in its manufacturing processes, serving as a positive social model and contributing to environmental protection.

2021 Outstanding Public Welfare Project in the Pharmaceutical Industry

Evaluation Criteria:

1. The enterprise/institution operating entity to which the project under evaluation belongs is a formally registered entity within China;

2. Impact: The nominated project provides significant sponsorship and support to beneficiaries in terms of human resources, material resources, and funding, demonstrating strong social influence and public credibility;

3. Representativeness: The project under evaluation has gained widespread recognition from its beneficiaries, who are representative of the target population, thereby attracting greater social attention;

4. Eligible projects may include standalone public welfare initiatives or participants in major public welfare projects that have made significant contributions during the current year.

Nominees are selected through preliminary online registration and recommendations. The final results are determined by a combination of online voting (50% weight) and expert review (50% weight).

Note: Unless otherwise specified, the scope of evaluation for China’s pharmaceutical industry in this ranking covers the entire industry chain and its upstream and downstream segments, including traditional Chinese medicine, chemical drugs, biopharmaceuticals, medical devices, medical technology, healthcare services and pharmaceutical outsourcing, as well as pharmaceutical distribution.
