With sustained innovation support and R&D investment in the pharmaceutical sector, China’s domestically developed innovative drugs have experienced rapid growth. Meanwhile, the accelerated adoption of “Internet+” has provided further impetus for the promotion of innovative drugs and the innovation of service models, continuously driving the digital transformation of the traditional pharmaceutical industry.

On November 25, JD Health officially entered into a strategic partnership with BeiGene, a global biotechnology company. Leveraging its high-quality pharmaceutical supply chain capabilities and extensive internet medical service resources, JD Health will comprehensively upgrade its integrated online-offline one-stop professional service experience, further enhancing the accessibility of innovative drugs. Together with BeiGene, the two parties aim to create an “innovative model” for specialized tumor patient management services. Meanwhile, they will deepen cooperation in areas such as digital pharmaceutical marketing and join hands with more industry partners to accelerate the integration of the digital pharmaceutical ecosystem, thereby driving the digital transformation of the traditional pharmaceutical industry.

New Drugs Make Their Debut on JD Health Pharmacy, Accelerating Equitable Access to Innovative Medicines

In the past two years, with the introduction and implementation of various national medical insurance policies, the pace at which innovative drugs are included in the National Reimbursement Drug List has accelerated, creating more favorable conditions for faster patient access to these therapies. The strategic partnership between JD Health and BeiGene originated from their collaborative project on innovative oncology drugs.

Since the second half of 2020, BeiGene’s anti-PD-1 antibody drug, Baizean®(Tislelizumab Injection), Brukinsa, the first China-originated BTK inhibitor to go global®(Zanubrutinib), the self-developed ovarian cancer treatment drug Baihuize®(Pamiparib Capsules), as well as the exclusively introduced innovative oncology drug AnjiaWei®(Denosumab Injection), Revlimid®(Revlimid capsules) and other products have been successively launched for the first time on JD Pharmacy. To date, the majority of BeiGene’s approved portfolio of innovative oncology drugs has been listed on JD Pharmacy.

JD Health and BeiGene Have Entered into a Strategic Partnership. Leveraging their integrated online-to-offline service capabilities, the two parties will provide patients with services such as remote follow-up consultations and prescription renewals by specialists, online medication purchases, and home delivery of medications. These initiatives aim to address the key challenges patients face in accessing and adhering to medication regimens, deliver drugs to patients more rapidly and conveniently, and further improve the accessibility of innovative oncology therapies for cancer patients.

Specifically, for innovative oncology cold-chain drugs with more stringent requirements, the two parties have leveraged JD Health’s “self-operated cold chain” capabilities to provide equitable drug supply and services across China to patients in need in more regions. Currently, JD Health’s “self-operated cold chain” capabilities cover more than 200 cities, offering an integrated online-to-offline supply chain solution from warehousing to delivery, thereby ensuring the safe, stable, and rapid delivery of cold-chain oncology medications.

Focusing on Care Services for Cancer Patients: Enhancing the One-Stop Professional Service Experience

In fact, over the course of more than a year of innovative collaboration, JD Health and BeiGene have jointly explored and launched a series of patient support programs for oncology. By developing innovative and accessible treatment solutions and providing easy-to-understand disease education, they are working together to improve patients’ treatment outcomes and quality of life.

This strategic partnership marks a comprehensive expansion of collaborative scenarios between the two parties. JD Health will further open up its “Internet + Healthcare” ecosystem capabilities, working together with BeiGene to provide patients with more convenient, professional, and high-quality one-stop pharmaceutical and healthcare services. Meanwhile, BeiGene will fully leverage its technical expertise and resource advantages across numerous disease areas, collaborating with JD Health to build an innovative patient service system and jointly enhance the integrated online-to-offline, specialized patient service experience.

Based on their strategic partnership, JD Health and BeiGene will join forces to build a comprehensive one-stop patient management model centered on patient services and safe medication needs. This model will cover the full spectrum of patient care scenarios, including health education, prevention and treatment, disease rehabilitation, medication follow-up, and innovative payment solutions. Meanwhile, both parties will upgrade digital medication management services to fully ensure medication safety during the “last mile” of delivery. Furthermore, the two companies will engage in all-around cooperation in areas such as digital pharmaceutical marketing, single-disease (oncology) patient management, and the development of digital health service systems, aiming to further address industry challenges and pain points related to the accessibility and affordability of innovative drugs, as well as the whole-course management of cancer patients.

Yan Liu, Vice President of BeiGene and Head of Marketing for Greater China, stated that with the support of “Internet Plus,” the speed and breadth of adoption for innovative oncology drugs have increased, while the pace and quality of service model innovation have improved. “Through ‘Internet Plus Healthcare,’ drug distribution channels are extending to lower-tier markets, enabling patients to overcome geographical and sales-tier barriers and gain convenient access to new and high-quality medications. Looking ahead, BeiGene and JD Health will continue to leverage their respective advantageous resources to foster cross-sector integration between the pharmaceutical industry and ‘Internet Plus,’ committed to promoting industrial convergence to better serve patients and jointly advance the development of public health in China.”

Wang Yiting, Head of the Pharmaceutical Business Unit at JD Health, stated that with the launch of this strategic partnership, more innovative drugs from BeiGene will leverage JD Health’s highly competitive supply chain capabilities and its one-stop pharmaceutical and healthcare service platform to provide equitable access and services to users across China. Meanwhile, the integrated online-to-offline digital patient management services will offer more patients convenient, professional, secure, and trustworthy support. Looking ahead, JD Health will continue to collaborate with BeiGene and other partners to create more favorable conditions for the digital transformation of the pharmaceutical industry, thereby accelerating the implementation of the “Healthy China 2030” initiative.
