VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) has learned thatChina’s Pen Injector Supplier—Suzhou HEALTHY Medical Device Development Co., Ltd., recently completed a tens-of-millions-yuan Series A financing round, led by Shanghai New Silk Road. With this, HEALTHY has completed four rounds of financing. Benefiting from this round of financing, HEALTHY will accelerate its production capacity layout, rapidly reduce product costs, and provide a domestically produced alternative for the injection of cartridge-based medications.
The Hanerxi injection pen is a product developed based on a new technical patent. To ensure the global applicability of the patent, a large domestic biopharmaceutical company recently conducted a Freedom-to-Operate (FTO) analysis in the United States, comparing existing global patents. The analysis confirmed that the technology behind the Hanerxi injection pen represents an entirely new technical approach. As a result, Chinese pharmaceutical companies can now fully utilize this product to break overseas monopolies and achieve global sales of Chinese medicines. Consequently, in 2021, the Hanerxi pen injector project was awarded third prize in the Industry Commercialization Track of the 4th “China Medical Device Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.”

Recently, the fully automated production line at HEALTHY’s Kunshan factory completed single-unit testing and entered the joint commissioning phase. Notably, its fully automated inspection equipment was designed and manufactured by Germany’s TEAM TECHNIK. The entire production line is designed for flexible manufacturing to meet lean production requirements, achieving a production speed of 180 units per minute. This upgrade transitions the injection pen manufacturing process from manual assembly to automatic assembly, expanding annual production capacity to 24 million units. With assistance from the Kunshan High-Tech Zone government, the Phase II facility has entered the layout planning stage. Over the next three years, the company plans to add 10 production lines, scaling up injection pen production to 200 million units annually to fully replace imported injection pen products. Additionally, the range of injection pen models will be expanded to cover multiple biopharmaceutical products.

This year, thanks to the development of China’s biopharmaceutical industry, numerous domestic biologics have achieved import substitution. With the national centralized procurement of insulin implemented this November, it is evident that the localization of biologics in China has entered a fast track. Moreover, some large pharmaceutical companies are not content with the domestic market alone and are actively exploring overseas opportunities. The achievement of mass production by HEALTHY will provide cost-effective products to meet these demands, facilitating the expansion of Chinese biologics into global markets.

HEALTHY will continue to actively expand its domestic and international markets, leveraging its advantages in drug delivery design to provide customers with more comprehensive customized solutions. This effort aims to support the development of China’s innovative pharmaceutical industry, implement a global strategy, and establish an international brand.
