Convergence of Innovation: FTC 2021 'New Perspectives, New Approaches' Cardiovascular Technology Innovation Case Finalists Announced
On September 28, 2021, the “Cardio Perspective, Cardio Innovation” Call for Cardiovascular Technological Innovations was officially launched. Jointly initiated by the Cardiac Surgery Professional Committee of the Chinese Medical Education Association, the Cardiac Surgery Professional Committee of the Chinese Medicine and Biological Engineering Association, and VCBeat, this campaign solicited innovative cardiovascular technology cases from medical institutions at all levels, medical device companies, healthcare service providers, and outstanding projects from specialized colleges and universities within the cardiovascular field. The initiative aims to promote technological innovation in cardiac surgery, encourage physicians to engage in bold innovative practices, leverage the strengths of the entire industry chain, and facilitate the industrialization of high-quality scientific research achievements.
The project spanned 48 days, during which we received 29 case studies from 10 provinces and municipalities, including Shanghai, Chongqing, and Jiangsu. Innovative forces have surged forth, and forward-looking perspectives have gradually broadened.
It features 21 industrial innovation cases from companies such as Suzhou HeartX, Chongqing Yongrenxin, and Hangzhou Weiqiang, covering four aspects: diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and health management of cardiovascular diseases. These cases span the field of structural heart disease, including heart failure, valvular heart disease, and congenital heart disease, and highlight multiple technological breakthroughs such as surgical robots, artificial hearts, and coronary balloon dilation catheters.
In early December, an expert review panel composed of the Cardiac Surgery Professional Committee of the China Medical Education Association and the Cardiac Surgery Professional Committee of the Chinese Medicine Biotechnology Engineering Association conducted a multi-dimensional evaluation focusing on clinical value, technological innovation, case outcomes, and business models. Ultimately, ten outstanding cases were selected to advance to the online project roadshow, where they engaged in direct dialogue with authoritative experts and frontline investors to share methodologies, pathways, and results associated with their cases, as well as to summarize key lessons learned.
