Recently, the National Key R&D Program of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan project titled “Research on the Prevention and Treatment of Common and Frequently Occurring Diseases,” led by Professor Zhang Bin, Administrative Director of the Department of Psychiatry and Psychology at Nanfang Hospital of Southern Medical University and Executive Director of the Chinese Sleep Research Society, with participation from Wangli Technology, has been approved and publicly announced. Other participating institutions include Guangdong Provincial People’s Hospital, Southwest University, The First Affiliated Hospital of Xinxiang Medical University, and Beijing Huilongguan Hospital, bringing together numerous research institutes and scientific resources across China.
The National Key R&D Program of the 14th Five-Year Plan was formed by integrating the former National Basic Research Program (973 Program), the National High-Tech R&D Program (863 Program), the National Science and Technology Support Program, the Special Program for International S&T Cooperation and Exchange, the Industrial Technology R&D Fund, and the Special Scientific Research Program for Public Welfare Industries. It targets major social public welfare research concerning national livelihood and people's well-being, as well as strategic, fundamental, and forward-looking major scientific issues, key generic technologies, and products that are critical to industrial core competitiveness, overall independent innovation capacity, and national security.

Wangli Technology was responsible for the development of non-pharmacological interventions for insomnia disorder within this project. Leveraging its existing AI models and extensive big data accumulated through years of dedicated research and development, Wangli Technology has already established a mature digital therapeutic product for sleep. Through this project, Wangli Technology’s digital sleep therapy product will undergo clinical demonstration and promotion at more than 100 institutions across China, while further optimizing the product. Ultimately, this effort will lead to the establishment of expert consensus and clinical practice guidelines for insomnia disorder.
Technology transforms the world, and innovation leads the future. Wangli Technology has been dedicated for many years to the research and development of digital therapeutics for mental disorders, with multiple digital assessment and digital treatment products already applied in areas such as depression, addiction, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Its selection for the National Key R&D Program also serves as an objective validation of Wangli Technology’s R&D capabilities. Leveraging its advantages in technology and data, Wangli Technology will continue to optimize digital therapeutic approaches, deepen its big data infrastructure and AI models, and consistently introduce personalized non-pharmacological therapies with better long-term outcomes and fewer side effects.
This key special project integrates advanced technologies, scientific research, and clinical applications, striving to further enhance the diagnosis and treatment standards in the field of sleep medicine in China, benefit patients, and elevate China’s international academic standing in this domain.
