Early-stage venture capital and growth-stage private equity investment institutions

Recently, innovative biotechnology company Binhu Biologics officially announced the completion of its nearly RMB 200 million Series A financing round, strategically led by Legend Holdings Corporation with co-investment from Legend Capital. The company was jointly established by Dr. Zhou Daixing, Legend Holdings Corporation, and Legend Capital. Leveraging over 20 years of expertise in gene and cell technologies accumulated by Professor Liang Desheng’s team at Central South University, Binhu Biologics is dedicated to developing universal cell and gene therapy products, primarily targeting cancer, autoimmune diseases, and genetic disorders.
Since 2015, the number of clinical trials for cell and gene therapies in China has experienced explosive growth. As the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) continues to approve Investigational New Drug (IND) applications for cutting-edge immunotherapies, an increasing number of innovative treatments are transitioning from the laboratory to the clinic and from academic research to industrialization. Among these, cell and gene therapy represents a new breakthrough in the treatment of tumors and genetic disorders, and is currently one of the most promising development directions in the biopharmaceutical field.
In recent years, with the breakthroughs and commercialization of chimeric antigen receptor T-cell immunotherapy (CAR-T therapy), the cell and gene therapy industry has entered a period of rapid global expansion. Off-the-shelf cell and gene therapies are expected to effectively reduce production costs, benefit patients more broadly, and further drive industry development.
According to Liang Desheng, Chief Scientist at Binhu Bio, current gene therapy drugs primarily target genetic diseases, while cell and gene therapy has emerged as one of the most prominent fields in recent years, demonstrating promising therapeutic prospects for cancer, blood disorders, cardiovascular diseases, and autoimmune diseases.
Building on its prior R&D achievements and technological expertise, Binhu Biotech is committed to establishing a “1+3+X” framework to realize its corporate vision of “advancing human health.” According to the company, the “1” refers to building an innovative biotechnology company with global influence; the “3” denotes the establishment of three world-class, independently owned intellectual property technology platforms, namely a targeted modification technology R&D platform, a delivery technology R&D platform, and a targeted modification drug manufacturing platform; and the “X” signifies the development of a portfolio of core product pipelines, focusing on cell and gene therapy products designed to tackle cancers, autoimmune diseases, genetic disorders, and other conditions.
As co-founders and strategic shareholders of Binhu Biologics, Legend Holdings Corporation and Legend Capital share a positive outlook on its future development and will fully leverage their respective resource advantages to provide ongoing support.
