VCBeat has learned that Hangzhou Yangqi Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Yangqi Intelligent”) completed its first round of financing, amounting to several million U.S. dollars, just over a month after its establishment. The round was exclusively invested by HongShan Seed Fund.
Public information indicates that Yangqi Intelligence focuses on overcoming challenges in “precision radiotherapy with high-precision medical navigation,” striving to become a pioneer in autonomous driving for medical equipment. By empowering medical devices with technologies such as AI, high-performance distributed control systems, and multimodal sensing, the company enhances the intelligence level of medical equipment, improves clinical treatment efficiency, and reduces physician training costs.
Taking tumor radiotherapy as an example, the challenge lies in the dynamic nature of the overall treatment process. Movements such as respiration cause changes in the shape and position of the tumor, making it difficult for current equipment to rapidly and accurately distinguish the boundaries of normal tissues or to perform real-time identification and tracking of the target. This results in a high number of radiation fractions with insufficient precision, potentially leading to adverse effects such as radiation pneumonitis and necrosis of normal tissues. To address these issues, international advancements have introduced technologies such as adaptive radiotherapy and respiratory gating. These techniques enable real-time adjustment of the target volume through precise spatiotemporal localization of the lesion, thereby reducing the number of radiation sessions and significantly improving therapeutic outcomes. However, the high cost of such equipment hinders its widespread adoption.
Yangqi Intelligence has proposed a real-time solution featuring tumor tracking and dose monitoring: by integrating AI algorithms, precise positioning navigation systems, and radiotherapy equipment control systems into conventional radiotherapy devices, and combining them with its self-developed radiation dose monitoring cameras and 3D human body imaging equipment, it achieves multi-dimensional treatment optimization, including real-time radiotherapy dose monitoring and management as well as precise navigation and patient positioning control. Furthermore, leveraging extensive accumulated medical data, Yangqi Intelligence provides real-time, reliable data assessment of treatment efficacy and offers intelligent recommendations for subsequent treatment plans.
Yangqi Intelligence stated, “We aim to equip medical devices with intelligent ‘eyes’ and ‘brains’ through the integration of hardware and software, enabling precise control over device operations and treatments. Our goal is to make complex medical equipment as easy to use as robotic vacuum cleaners, thereby facilitating doctors in performing various complex procedures and making clinical judgments, ultimately improving treatment outcomes and optimizing the patient experience.”
It is worth noting that Yangqi Intelligence’s ability to rapidly develop high-quality products stems from its team’s robust R&D capabilities and strong scientific research background. The core founding team comprises experts in the fields of artificial intelligence, distributed control, and X-ray physics from both China and abroad. Dr. Zhou Guanqun, the CTO and leader of core technology R&D, has previously conducted scientific research at the University of Science and Technology of China, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Stanford University, and the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory in the United States. He possesses profound technical expertise in X-ray physics and intelligent control of particle accelerators. Additionally, the founding team of Yangqi Intelligence includes the founder of the renowned AI community AICUG and former intelligent product experts from Alibaba’s DAMO Academy.
Next, Yangqi Intelligence will assemble a more comprehensive team of experts in artificial intelligence and nuclear medicine. By leveraging its proprietary hardware-software integrated multimodal sensing technology, the company will continuously optimize various radiotherapy processes, making them increasingly precise and personalized.
