Yiqun Dolphin Secures Tens of Millions in Angel Funding to Build an Integrated In-Hospital and At-Home Platform for Pediatric Health and Chronic Disease Management
Yiqun Dolphin was founded in 2021, focusing on building a full-scenario, data-driven platform that integrates pediatric data generation, processing, insights, and business applications. It has established an integrated management platform for children’s health and chronic diseases both inside and outside hospitals, led by hospital-side applications and supplemented by a series of data applications for internet healthcare and home use. VCBeat has learned that Yiqun Dolphin recently secured tens of millions of yuan in angel-round financing.
After more than 30 years of development, the healthcare industry has transitioned from hospital-wide informatization to a phase of refined, specialty-specific advancement. In 2021, the National Health Commission consecutively issued two five-year action plans, requiring hospitals to strengthen specialty capacity building and enhance clinical research capabilities.
As the concept of scientific parenting gains deeper traction on the demand side, the refined management of China’s 300 million-plus children and the corresponding development of pediatric care are poised for an explosive growth phase. At the policy level, the National Health Commission issued the “Healthy Children Action Improvement Plan (2021–2025)” in October 2021, explicitly calling for the active promotion of child health management initiatives. This includes integrating child health management into family doctor contract services, encouraging the establishment of diverse service packages, and providing diversified, multi-tiered, and personalized child healthcare services.
Jin Zhen, a core founder of Yiqun Dolphin, previously served as the CEO of a publicly listed company and as Vice President of AliHealth. The entire entrepreneurial team and key technical personnel hail from Alibaba, making it currently the only team in China to have achieved a cloud-native reconstruction of hospital-wide information systems.
Yiqun Dolphin leverages the unique feature of its cloud-native architecture, where the in-hospital physician workflow and diagnosis/treatment system is integrated with the internet hospital diagnosis/treatment system as a single unified platform, to provide continuous medical services for children aged 0–18 both within and outside the hospital. Meanwhile, it uses a suite of family-side applications as an entry point to supplement out-of-hospital data for pediatric patients. Additionally, it collaborates with leading hospitals to co-develop and offer chronic disease management packages and health management packages.
Building on its prior accumulation, after more than a year of R&D, Yiqun Haitun has commercialized products such as its data-driven “Children’s Health and Chronic Disease Management Platform System,” and has established in-depth business collaborations with leading healthcare institutions including the Hongqiao Branch of Children’s Hospital of Fudan University and Zhejiang Provincial People’s Hospital.
Angel investors have expressed optimism about the growth opportunities in the specialization of medical services, with child health and chronic disease management representing blue-ocean markets. Leveraging its extensive experience in implementing cloud-native technologies and its long-standing resource base within hospitals, Dolphin has emerged as the only product on the market that has validated strong willingness to pay among hospital-based clients.
