Recently, the Special Seminar on Intelligent Clinical Decision Support Systems and the Unveiling Ceremony for the Establishment of the “Langtong Medical Artificial Intelligence Research Institute” were successfully held in China AI Town. The event was jointly initiated and hosted by Zhejiang University, the Zhejiang Provincial Medical Science and Technology Education Development Center, and Langtong Medical.

At the meeting,Professor Fang Lizheng, Discipline Leader of General Practice at Zhejiang University; Director Li Zhefeng, Artificial Intelligence Industry Planning, Zhejiang Digital Content Research Institute; Dr. Lin Hui, Deputy Dean of the College of Biomedical Engineering and Instrument Science at Zhejiang University; Professor Huang Zhengxing, College of Computer Science and Technology at Zhejiang University; and Mr. Xu Zhe, Chairman of Langtong MedicalFive invited guests delivered keynote speeches respectively.

2022 “Lingyan” Takes Off: Expanding the Breadth of Medicine, Carving Out Technical Depth


Special Symposium on Intelligent Clinical Decision Support for Diagnosis and TreatmentThe Special Symposium on Intelligent Clinical Decision Support for Diagnosis and Treatment originated in late 2021, when Zhejiang University, the Zhejiang Medical Science and Technology Education Development Center, and Langtong Medical successfully secured a project under the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Science and Technology’s “Lingyan” (Leading Goose) R&D Key Breakthrough Program for 2022. The 2022 Kick-off Meeting for the Zhejiang Provincial “Lingyan” Project and the Expert Review Meeting on the Implementation Plan were presided over by Dr. Lin Hui, the project leader.

Dr. Lin Hui provided an accessible overview of the Lingyan Project and outlined his expectations. He pointed out that since 2015, it has become an industry consensus that AI’s vertical empowerment of industries is driving the in-depth development of medical services. The emergence of AI has enabled primary care physicians to leverage a “smart stool” built upon the accumulated expertise and knowledge of specialists. Furthermore, the integration of teaching with intelligent systems offers a practical and effective pathway for genuinely enhancing the service capabilities of primary healthcare institutions.


The “Lingyan” Project primarily anchors itself to the core of the new healthcare reform and a key pillar of Healthy China—the tiered diagnosis and treatment system—focusing on strengthening the foundation to provide robust primary healthcare support for the public.Building on prior achievements, the 2022 “Lingyan” Project primarily represented a self-imposed challenge for the project team members, who set higher standards for the project outcomes in terms of medical breadth and technical depth, such as expanding disease coverage and improving the hit rate of the top three diagnostic predictions.


At the seminar, Director Xu Yi from the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Director Gao Yanchao from the Zhejiang Provincial Medical Science and Technology Education Development Center; Director Feng Jingyi from the First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine; Director Zhang Junhang from the Mental Health Center Affiliated to Zhejiang University; Liu Kaixuan from Sai Zhi Bo Le; and Dr. Xue Chong from Quanzhen Medicine participated in reviewing the implementation plan. They provided valuable opinions and suggestions from perspectives including the construction of an application evaluation system, standardization of diagnostic and therapeutic mind maps, general practice exhibitions, residency training activities, translation platforms, product positioning, data source development, and the “diagnosis” and “treatment” aspects of both specialized and general practice.


“Langtong Medical AI Research Institute” Unveiled, Marking Langtong Medical’s Bold Step into a New Era

To further build consensus on the 2022 “Leading Goose” Project of the Department of Science and Technology, and to actively promote the demonstration and application of project outcomes in medical institutions,“Langtong Medical AI Research Institute” was established, marking a new chapter in Langtong Medical’s development journey.


Xu Zhe, Chairman of Langtong Medical, presented appointment letters to the first batch of advisors and visiting researchers at the Langtong Medical Artificial Intelligence Research Institute and delivered a speech. Xu Zhe began by expressing his gratitude for the long-term support from government officials, distinguished guests, and industry experts.


He stated,“Langtong Medical AI Research Institute” is dedicated to building an industry exchange platform and promoting research on how artificial intelligence empowers the healthcare and wellness sector. The Institute aims for its team to seize the opportunities of the era, leverage strengths in medicine, technology, and applications, and actively advance strategic assessment, achievement transformation, and industrial integration. Through continuous exploration and innovation, it strives to deepen the translation and application of research outcomes, contributing collaboratively to the intelligent development of the medical information industry.


Xu Zhe stated that Dr. Huang Zhengxing is an expert in the field of medical artificial intelligence, who has long been dedicated to theoretical research and practical exploration in promoting intelligent clinical decision support systems. He also possesses extensive experience in innovation management and talent development. As a key technical leader at the Langtong Medical Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, Dr. Huang will lead the institute to forge ahead continuously in the realm of AI-plus-healthcare innovation, achieving ongoing breakthroughs and setting new benchmarks.

Meanwhile, the in-depth involvement of medical experts will provide the driving force for AI-driven innovation and transformation in the healthcare sector.

Dr. Huang Zhengxing, Professor at the College of Computer Science and Technology, Zhejiang University | Intelligent Diagnostic and Treatment Decision-Making Technologies


Professor Huang Zhengxing from the College of Computer Science and Technology at Zhejiang University, with his unique perspective, presented innovative achievements and the latest technological insights in the field of international medical informatics, reflecting on the gaps in China from a standpoint of technical rationality. Using the computer-aided diagnosis and treatment project for cardiovascular diseases (which won the First Prize of the PLA’s Science and Technology Progress Award in 2016) as an example, he introduced the iterative improvements made to model samples in areas such as risk warning, intervention recommendation, prognosis analysis, and disease progression.
