【Pharmaceutical Network Industry DynamicsIn recent years, driven by advancements in biotechnology and the successful application of mRNA technology in vaccine development, the global mRNA therapeutics market size is continuously growing. According to industry forecasts, the mRNA drug/medicine market is expected to reach 20 billion US dollars by 2032, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 118.7% during the forecast period from 2027 to 2032.
Notably, as the technological potential and commercial value of the mRNA field continue to be unlocked, a series of significant collaborations, transactions, and product approvals have emerged around this platform in China and globally since 2026.
Recently, Kangh announced that the company plans to acquire 100% equity of NanoRibo (Shanghai) Biotechnology Co., Ltd. in three phases with a total amount not exceeding 631.8097 million yuan. After the transaction is completed, it will hold 100% equity of NanoRibo.
NanoRibo Focuses on mRNA Field Research and Development, Its Lyophilized RSV mRNA Vaccine Has Entered Phase I Clinical Trials. Through this acquisition, the company aims to accelerate the industrialization of its research pipeline and expand its strategic space by acquiring a mature mRNA technology platform that synergizes with its existing capabilities.
On April 13, Yookang Pharmaceutical announced that its subsidiaries, Beijing Yookang Sci-Tech Innovation Pharmaceutical Technology Co., Ltd. and Hangzhou Tianlong Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., had recently received the "Drug Clinical Trial Approval Notices" issued by the National Medical Products Administration for YKYY026 Injection for the prevention of herpes zoster, and YKYY025 Injection for the prevention of lower respiratory tract diseases caused by Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV).
Both products are mRNA vaccines that utilize an LNP delivery system based on the fully proprietary cationic lipid, YK-009. Among them, YKYY025 injection is an mRNA vaccine encoding the prefusion conformation (pre-F) of the respiratory syncytial virus F protein. Meanwhile, YKYY026 injection is an mRNA vaccine encoding the varicella-zoster virus (VZV) gE protein antigen.
On February 25, XtalPi and YolTech Therapeutics announced in Shanghai a collaboration to advance AI-powered mRNA drug research and development. The two parties will leverage XtalPi's AI and
RobotAutomated experimental platform, combined with YolTech Therapeutics' technical advantages in in vivo gene editing and base editing, to jointly advance the discovery and optimization of novel mRNA therapeutic drugs. The collaboration starts immediately, with the first phase focusing on candidate molecular design and in vitro functional validation.
It is reported that this collaboration aims to accelerate the development of precise, efficient, and druggable gene-editing therapies to address unmet clinical needs such as genetic disorders. The scalable "dry-wet lab" closed-loop iterative platform jointly built by both parties will not only serve the current specific target projects but can also be expanded in the future to more complex disease applications such as solid tumors and central nervous system disorders.
……
In general, the promising mRNA drug market is continuously attracting pharmaceutical companies in and outside China to increase their investments. As a result, the application of mRNA technology will also accelerate from infectious disease prevention to broader fields such as rare disease treatment and cancer immunotherapy in the future, benefiting more patients.
