On March 3, 2022, Triastek (full name: Nanjing Triastek Medical Technology Co., Ltd.; hereinafter referred to as “Triastek”), a pioneer in the new generation of global digital pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, entered into a strategic partnership with Siemens (China) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Siemens”), an innovation leader in automation and digitalization. The two parties will commit to providing digital development and production solutions for pharmaceutical companies worldwide.
Signing Ceremony of the Strategic Cooperation Agreement Between 3D Iteration and Siemens
Continuous manufacturing and digitalization in the pharmaceutical industry represent a key direction for industrial reform promoted by regulatory authorities worldwide, including the U.S. FDA, the European EMA, and China’s NMPA. Industrial digitalization is reshaping the landscape of pharmaceutical innovation. In active response to regulatory requirements, Triastek is advancing the continuous, digital, and intelligent transformation of pharmaceutical technologies.
Under this strategic agreement, Triastek and Siemens will collaborate by leveraging their respective technological strengths. Triastek is dedicated to the development of drug R&D and production equipment based on its globally pioneering MED (Melt Extrusion Deposition) 3D printing technology, while Siemens provides advanced global technical solutions and high-stability products in the fields of automation and digitalization. Both parties will cooperate around the goal of “digitalization of the pharmaceutical industry,” focusing on the digitalization of drug R&D and production, continuous and paperless manufacturing, real-time release testing of pharmaceuticals, and the construction and operation of new integrated pharmaceutical factories, thereby comprehensively expanding the application of digital technologies in the pharmaceutical sector. Meanwhile, leveraging their years of exploration and accumulated experience in 3D printing and pharmaceuticals, both teams will continue to enhance the production capacity of MED 3D printing pharmaceutical technology.
Looking ahead, Triassic aims to establish a globally leading intelligent pharmaceutical manufacturing center. The two parties will engage in technical discussions and in-depth collaboration on digital infrastructure development, including digital virtual laboratories, digital virtual factories, and Internet of Things (IoT) systems.
Triastek, established six years ago, has entered the phase of product manufacturing and commercial expansion. In October 2021, Triastek unveiled its Open Strategy for the 2.0 Era, aiming to commercialize 3D-printed drug technology by opening up its technical resources and fostering extensive collaborations with global pharmaceutical companies and upstream and downstream suppliers. Through this partnership, Triastek will open its digital formulation platform, which covers the entire chain of drug research, development, and production based on 3D printing technology. By collaborating with Siemens on this open technology platform, Triastek and its partners will jointly develop world-leading digital pharmaceutical technologies.
Dr. Senping Cheng, Founder and CEO of Triastek
Dr. Cheng Senping, Founder and CEO of Triastek, stated, “The strategic partnership between Triastek and Siemens has expanded the industry’s horizons for pharmaceutical digitalization. Triastek’s MED 3D printing technology serves as the foundational digital manufacturing process for pharmaceuticals, laying the cornerstone of digital pharmaceutics. It has introduced a new R&D paradigm for drug development to market approval, as well as novel production and supply chain management models. Triastek will open its digital pharmaceutical technology platform to more key providers of digital technologies, jointly advancing the progression of Pharma 4.0.”

Zhang Jinsong, Senior Vice President of Siemens (China) Co., Ltd. Digital Industries Group and General Manager of the East China Region
Zhang Jinsong, Senior Vice President of Siemens Digital Industries in China and General Manager for the East China Region, stated: “The strategic partnership between Siemens and Triastek represents a powerful alliance between a leader in digitalization and a pioneer in 3D-printed pharmaceuticals. With comprehensive solutions and extensive experience in both 3D printing and pharmaceutical digitalization, Siemens is well-positioned to integrate these technologies innovatively. This integration connects R&D with manufacturing, enabling a revolutionary shift toward an end-to-end model from demand to delivery. We are confident that this strong collaboration will accelerate Triastek’s realization of Pharma 4.0.”
Triastec, founded in July 2015, is a global leader in the field of 3D-printed pharmaceuticals and a pioneer of next-generation digital pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
Triassic is committed to building a novel 3D-printed drug technology platform, covering the entire value chain from dosage form design and digital development to intelligent manufacturing.
Triastek boasts the world’s most extensive pipeline of 3D-printed pharmaceutical products. It is the only Chinese pharmaceutical company selected for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Emerging Technology Program and is actively participating in the development of industry standards for 3D-printed drugs under the United States Pharmacopeia (USP). Furthermore, Triastek holds the most comprehensive patent portfolio and has filed the highest number of patent applications globally in the field of 3D-printed pharmaceuticals.
