(China, Germany, Singapore, March 7, 2022) Singleron Biotechnologies (hereinafter referred to as “Singleron”) announced today the acquisition of Proteona Pte. Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Proteona”). As a leading genomics company in China, Singleron possesses a pioneering single-cell multi-omics technology platform and is dedicated to clinical translation. Proteona is a Singapore-based precision medicine company that provides single-cell biomarker discovery services for translational medicine and clinical researchers worldwide.

Singleron’s position in overseas markets will be strengthened by Proteona’s marketing networks across Asia, Europe, the United States, and Canada. Furthermore, this acquisition will enable Singleron to gain Proteona’s expertise in single-cell multi-omics analysis and its professional insights into the biopharmaceutical market.

Proteona was founded in 2017 by Jonathan Scolnick, Gene Yeo, and Shawn Hoon. The company focuses on integrating single-cell multi-omics analytical approaches, including proteomics, with machine learning methods to identify novel biomarkers and develop machine learning-based models for predicting disease severity and treatment response.

To this end, Proteona has developed innovative methods for single-cell multi-omics analysis and data annotation, including MapCell™ for cell annotation and MapBatch™ for batch correction. These approaches offer significant advantages over traditional single-cell data analysis methods. Proteona’s achievements in translational medical research were featured in multiple expert presentations at the American Society of Hematology (ASH) Annual Meeting in December 2021.

Dr. Nan Fang, CEO and Co-Founder of Singleron, stated, “We are delighted to join forces with the Proteona team to realize our shared vision: the clinical translation of groundbreaking single-cell technologies. The Proteona team brings extensive and proven expertise in collaborating with pharmaceutical R&D enterprises and clinicians to advance clinical translation, and its proteomics technology serves as a perfect complement to Singleron’s single-cell technology platform. We look forward to leveraging single-cell multi-omics and data science together to drive the development of precision medicine.”

Dr. Andreas Schmidt, CEO of Proteona, stated, “Singleron will be the ideal home for Proteona. Singleron’s technology and resources will help us accelerate the realization of our shared vision of single-cell-based precision medicine. We look forward to the clinical translation of Singleron’s unique single-cell technology platform.”
