VCBeat (WeChat: vcbeat) has learned at the earliest opportunity that, in recent days,Shenzhen TENDFO Medical Technology Co., Ltd. (“TENDFO”), a medical device company focused on the field of pulmonary embolism, has completed an A+ round of financing exceeding RMB 100 million. This round of financing was led by OrbiMed, with TEDA Capital Investment following as a co-investor.The funds will be used for the clinical registration and market promotion of interventional surgical devices for acute pulmonary embolism, while advancing the research and development and clinical studies of products for the treatment of venous thromboembolism.

TENDFO is the first company in China to conduct clinical research on interventional devices for acute pulmonary embolism.Since its establishment, it has been committed to filling the gap in China's field of interventional surgical devices for pulmonary embolism.TENDFO’s independently developed Tendvia™ Pulmonary Artery Thrombectomy System, China’s first interventional device for acute pulmonary embolism, has entered the registration clinical trial phase.Collected clinical data demonstrate that the product exhibits excellent safety and efficacy. It is anticipated that, as clinical registration progresses, the product will save more patients’ lives in the future. Meanwhile, the company’s independently developed venous thrombectomy device has also entered the clinical trial phase for regulatory approval.

Acute pulmonary embolism is one of the three major fatal cardiovascular diseases. Currently, the primary clinical treatment modality is thrombolytic therapy. However, this approach requires a prolonged treatment duration and carries a high risk of hemorrhagic complications at various sites. There is an urgent clinical need for more effective solutions specifically designed for acute massive pulmonary embolism, thereby addressing a critical gap in its prevention and management. In recent years, interventional surgical devices for acute pulmonary embolism have demonstrated growing advantages in patient care by rapidly removing large thromboemboli and promptly restoring pulmonary blood flow, entering a phase of rapid development. Nevertheless, there are currently no formally registered surgical devices in China specifically indicated for acute massive pulmonary embolism. The successful completion of this financing round reflects the capital market’s recognition of TENDFO’s product development and clinical promotion efforts, as well as its expectations for the company’s future growth.

Huang Dingguo, founder of TENDFO, stated: “In the future, the company will further deepen its understanding of clinical needs and continuously enhance its product R&D capabilities, striving to provide more products that closely align with clinical requirements. This will help physicians save more patients’ lives and establish TENDFO as a leader in therapeutic solutions for pulmonary vascular diseases and venous thromboembolism in China.”

Dr. David Wang, Partner at OrbiMed, stated“As the third leading cause of cardiovascular death, following only acute myocardial infarction and acute cerebral infarction, acute pulmonary embolism has long lacked effective solutions in the medical community. The 90-day mortality rate for submassive and massive acute pulmonary embolism ranges from 12.3% to 41.3%, with no significant improvement observed over the years. The emergence of mechanical thrombectomy devices for acute pulmonary embolism has brought hope to these patients. As China’s first company dedicated to the research and development of mechanical thrombectomy devices for acute pulmonary embolism, TENDFO boasts strong execution capabilities and extensive R&D experience. While advancing its pulmonary embolism device through registration clinical trials, the company has also built a tiered pipeline of multiple innovative products. OrbiMed is honored to collaborate with TENDFO in delivering innovative and effective products to the industry and patients, and remains committed to supporting TENDFO in becoming a leading enterprise in the field of venous vascular intervention in China.”

Ding Xusheng, Managing Director of TEDA Sci-Tech Investment, stated“TENDFO’s core team has many years of R&D experience in the field of cardiovascular interventional medical devices. Adhering to a clinical-need-oriented approach, the company has successfully developed an interventional therapy product for pulmonary embolism. We look forward to TENDFO becoming a leader in this niche sector, providing safe and effective treatment options for patients.”
