Antesu Medical Group Files for IPO: Scaling China's $10B Third-Party Sterilization Market with 7 Centers and 400+ Hospital Clients

Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) is known as the heart of hospital infection control. It serves as a critical gateway for hospital infection prevention and control, disinfection and sterilization, and material supply. The CSSD primarily provides integrated comprehensive services for disinfection and sterilization to the healthcare system, offering reprocessing services—including collection, cleaning and disinfection, sterilization, and sterile distribution—for reusable medical devices, diagnostic and treatment instruments, and medical textiles.

In the past, hospitals primarily relied on self-built sterile supply centers to obtain sterile diagnostic and surgical instruments. However, in recent years, as hospitals across various regions have continued to expand, with increasing numbers of beds and day-surgery procedures, various issues have become prominent—

  • The growing business volume of medical institutions is mismatched with the processing capacity of their in-house sterile supply centers;

  • Amid the broader context of hospital cost containment, the Sterile Supply Department, as a pure cost center within the hospital, has created a contradiction between revenue and expenditures;

  • Facilities and other resources of medical institutions are becoming increasingly scarce, while labor costs continue to rise and operational expenses remain high;

  • Increasingly Stringent Regulatory Requirements and the Dilemma of Insufficient Investment in Sterile Supply Departments at Healthcare Institutions...

As a result, an increasing number of hospitals and medical institutions have begun to seek out specialized third-party sterile supply service providers. Consequently, many innovative enterprises have entered this field, including those based in Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province,Antesu Medical Group(abbreviated as “Antesu”) is one of them.

Independently developed full-process traceable sterilization system, providing personalized service solutions tailored to the specific needs of hospitals

Antesu AIS Traceability Management SystemIt is Antesu’s core product. Every sterile supply center operated by Antesu utilizes this independently developed traceability system. Furthermore, the company has secured 12 utility model patents and 10 invention patents in areas such as traceability systems, process innovation, instruments, and equipment R&D.

The AIS Traceability System isAn all-in-one traceability management solution for surgical instruments, integrating both hardware and software,Integrating cost accounting, logistics management, warehouse management, personnel management, equipment monitoring, and analytical decision-making, the system seamlessly interfaces with procurement, logistics, billing, large-scale hospitals, various types of medical institutions, and health regulatory authorities. It effectively addresses data integration challenges, providing decision-makers with a real-time data monitoring platform.

This productIn terms of hardware,Dedicated hardware with high stability and a compact footprint was adopted. The terminals feature touchscreens and barcode scanning to replace keyboard entry, offering user-friendly operation and significantly improving the processing efficiency of relevant staff.

On the software side, the system employs barcode labels for management throughout the entire process.The system links barcodes with electronic medical records of operating room nursing documentation, facilitating smoother coordination between the Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD), the operating rooms, and clinical departments, thereby enabling full-process traceability and query capabilities. Furthermore, it canReal-Time TraceabilityInformation such as processing time, location, operator, washer-disinfector, and sterilizer for each instrument (pack) throughout the entire process. The recorded information canOn-Demand Query, assisting clients in managing healthcare-associated infections. It also enables end-to-end quality monitoring, ensuring the quality of reusable instruments and items, thereby standardizing and streamlining sterilization supply operations, and improving the operational efficiency and informatization management level of relevant departments.

Leveraging information technology, electronic records are now maintained for every step and each cycle of the medical instrument lifecycle, including retrieval, cleaning and disinfection, packaging, sterilization, storage, distribution, and use.Data integration and statistics are more streamlined, facilitating analysis of sterilized item usage and improving operational efficiency. Robust data analytics capabilities enable monitoring of equipment utilization rates, instrument turnover, and other metrics, helping customers consolidate and optimize resources while controlling costs.

Different hospitals excel in different departments, which requires third-party sterilization suppliers to have a deep understanding of hospital needs and the ability to work collaboratively. They must tailor personalized comprehensive service solutions to meet hospitals' requirements for outsourcing sterilization items and quality control.Antesu’s in-house professional R&D team can tailor comprehensive, personalized service solutions for hospitals to address their diverse needs.

Policy Tailwinds Drive Market Expansion: 18 New CSSD Centers to Be Established in the Next Three Years

Looking at developed countries overseas, the third-party medical sterilization and supply model is already very mature. Relevant data shows that the market penetration rate of sterilization outsourcing in the UK exceeds 70%, and in Japan it is over 30%, while in China it is only 2%.

In September 2013, the State Council issued the “Several Opinions of the State Council on Promoting the Development of the Health Service Industry,” explicitly encouraging the development of third-party healthcare and medical services. Over the following years, a series of related policy measures and regulatory standards were successively introduced, including the “Basic Standards for Medical Disinfection Supply Centers (Trial),” the “Basic Standards for Medical Disinfection Supply Centers (Trial),” and the “Opinions of the General Office of the State Council on Strengthening Performance Appraisal of Tertiary Public Hospitals.”

Riding the tailwinds of favorable policies, the third-party sterile supply center sector has gained rapid momentum. Medical institutions in Shanghai, Jiangsu, Guangdong, and other regions are increasingly outsourcing related services to third-party sterile supply centers, driving market expansion.

According to research by the global consulting firm Frost & Sullivan and the actual conditions of the domestic market, the market size for third-party sterile supply services is projected to reach tens of billions over the next decade, accounting for more than 70% of the sterilization and supply of medical devices.
