Yatu Bio Completes Over RMB 100 Million Series A Financing to Advance High-End Microbial Drug Pipeline

In March 2022, Yacht Bio-Tech Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Yacht Bio") officially announced the completion of its Series A financing round, exceeding RMB 100 million. This round of financing was jointly invested by Sun Fund Capital, RHC, and CGI.

Yacht Bio-Tech is a high-tech enterprise specializing in the development, production, and operation of high-end microbial pharmaceutical products (including specialized active pharmaceutical ingredients [APIs] and formulations), leveraging core technologies such as synthetic biology and biocatalysis. Its technological features and strategic direction align perfectly with the principles advocated in the Implementation Plan for High-Quality Development of the API Industry, issued by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), which emphasize technological innovation and upgrading in production, green and low-carbon transformation, integration of APIs and formulations, and internationalized supply.

The Company has established a National Engineering Research Center for Microbial Pharmaceuticals and a Provincial International Science and Technology Cooperation Base. It boasts extensive resources, including a microbial strain library, a metabolite sample library, a screening platform for physiologically active substances, and a structural modification platform. By leveraging unique technologies such as microbially derived biocatalysis (enzymatic catalysis), genetic breeding, and synthetic biology, the Company continuously optimizes its processes and develops innovative drugs. To date, it has achieved full industry chain coverage, encompassing the research and development, production, and marketing of both active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and finished dosage forms for high-end microbial pharmaceuticals.

The company’s product pipeline covers areas such as anti-infectives, immunology, and oncology. Three high-end microbial drug formulations and their corresponding active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), which are in urgent clinical demand, have been approved for marketing in China and have entered the international supply chain. Two complex generic drugs are in the clinical/bioequivalence (BE) study phase, with key processes for several major products under development. In the field of innovative drugs, two candidates are currently in the pharmaceutical research stage.

Following the completion of this round of financing, Yacht Bio-Tech will continue to strengthen its independent R&D capabilities, accelerate the industrialization of products urgently needed in clinical practice, enhance the breakthrough development and international sales of specialty active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), and rapidly advance the R&D of innovative drug candidates.
