“Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death threatening human health, with myocardial infarction accounting for a significant proportion of cases. Generally, residents seek medical attention at the nearest facility when they suddenly feel unwell. Community and township health centers, as healthcare service stations, are the professional medical resources closest to the public. However, at present, the diagnostic and treatment capabilities of most primary care institutions serving as initial points of contact are inadequate. Furthermore, these primary care institutions are not yet equipped to assume responsibility for public education and patient rehabilitation management within their regions,” stated Academician Ge Junbo, Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Director of the Department of Cardiology at Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, and Chairman of the China Cardiovascular Health Alliance, in a proposal submitted during the Two Sessions.

To address the issue of improving the efficiency and effectiveness of treatment for chest pain patients at the primary care level, Academician Ge Junbo proposed five recommendations: support from local governments and health administrative departments at all levels for the establishment of Chest Pain Treatment Units; the creation of a routine coordination and communication mechanism among medical institutions at various levels; the provision of standard diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and medications for acute chest pain; the implementation of training and assessment programs for primary healthcare institutions; and deep engagement with communities through regular public education and training initiatives.

In addition to Academician Ge Junbo, during the proposal and suggestion session of the Two Sessions, multiple committee members offered recommendations on the issue of “strengthening the capacity of primary healthcare institutions and enhancing early diagnosis and treatment of major diseases.” Committee Member Zhang Guogang submitted a proposal titled “Promoting the Development of Health Management as a Medical Discipline to Address the Burden of Chronic Diseases in an Aging Society.” Committee Member Chen Min called for sustained efforts to boost the development of the medical imaging industry and further strengthen the establishment and popularization of radiology departments in primary hospitals. Committee Member Huang Yuguang stated that the national government should increase policy support and financial investment in primary healthcare.

For high-incidence conditions such as cardiovascular diseases, broader deployment of more intelligent and digitalized screening systems at the primary care level would enable patients to conduct timely and effective self-assessments, thereby directly enhancing the prevention and control of cardiovascular diseases.

China has a large and rapidly growing population of patients with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Statistics show that over 10 million coronary CTA examinations are performed annually. In tertiary hospitals, an average radiologist must identify stenosis and plaques across more than 9,000 coronary CTA images per day, while also performing complex post-processing, making diagnoses, and writing reports. Each case requires 30–60 minutes for image processing. In addition to the heavy workload, the uneven distribution of medical resources in China leads to variability in the quality of image interpretation among physicians in many regions. This often prevents accurate assessment based on examination results, resulting in missed and misdiagnoses.

To effectively address this critical challenge, Shenzhen RayHeart Intelligent Medical Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “RayHeart Medical”) independently developed the RayHeart Coronary Intelligent Post-Processing Platform. As the world’s first platform integrating “morphological” and “functional” assessments for precise processing and analysis of coronary CTA images, it significantly enhances physicians’ interpretation accuracy and diagnostic efficiency, thereby better supporting the development of primary care capabilities. In September 2021, the RayHeart Coronary Intelligent Post-Processing Platform received certification from the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA).

Fully Automated, High-Precision, Over 10x Efficiency Gain: Leading the Way in Digital and Intelligent CTA Interpretation

Specifically, at the "morphological" level, the ReXin Intelligent Coronary Post-Processing Platform can perform automatic 3D reconstruction of coronary arteries and automatic analysis of stenosis severity; at the "functional" level, the platform can analyze and determine the nature and risk of vascular plaques. The combination of these capabilities enables more precise and reliable diagnoses, achieving a 97% accuracy rate for 3D vascular reconstruction and a 99% accuracy rate for automatic vascular annotation.

Meanwhile, the Ruixin Intelligent Coronary Post-Processing Platform can significantly enhance diagnostic efficiency. Compared with a general radiologist at a tertiary hospital, the platform improves efficiency in this stage by more than 10-fold; it only requires importing coronary CTA images and can fully automatically complete the aforementioned workflow within 3–5 minutes. More importantly, compared with the previous turnaround time of 1–3 days for diagnostic results, the time for patients to receive reports is substantially shortened, saving valuable time in the “diagnosis-to-treatment” pathway.

High result consistency is another major advantage of the RayHeart Coronary Intelligent Post-Processing Platform. Traditional manual CTA interpretation primarily relies on visual assessment to determine the degree of stenosis, placing high demands on the seniority and experience of interpreting physicians. Variations in physician experience and differences in the selection of longitudinal slices on viewing workstations can often lead to discrepancies in stenosis assessment. The RayHeart Coronary Intelligent Post-Processing Platform employs deep learning methods, ensuring that identical input data always yields a unique, consistent result. This high level of automation minimizes subjective variability in image interpretation.

The Ruixin Coronary Intelligent Post-Processing Platform enables fully automated and efficient assessment of coronary artery stenosis, yielding more objective and precise results for coronary heart disease screening. This empowers physicians at primary care hospitals to make better-informed judgments and provide subsequent diagnostic and treatment plans for patients. From a broader perspective, the precision achieved in each individual diagnosis accumulates across the healthcare system, generating greater overall benefits.

Integrated Solutions Deliver Robust Efficacy in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Cardiovascular Diseases

For many years, Ruixin Medical has been committed to providing clinical diagnostic and therapeutic services that address pain points across the entire disease course, aiming to achieve “the earliest diagnosis and most precise treatment for every blood vessel.” The company has established a closed-loop system spanning screening, diagnosis, treatment, interventional surgery, and prognostic follow-up, creating a diagnostic and therapeutic solution platform that is precise, non-invasive, and integrates both “morphological” and “functional” assessments. In addition to the Ruixin Intelligent Coronary Post-Processing Platform, its coronary blood supply functional assessment platform—“RuiXin-FFR”—has been validated by the world’s largest prospective trial. It currently leads in accuracy within the CT-FFR product sector. By leveraging intelligent diagnostics that combine “morphology + function,” RuiXin-FFR assists physicians in formulating optimal diagnostic and treatment strategies, significantly improving clinical efficiency and effectively reducing unnecessary coronary angiographies for patients. Furthermore, Ruixin Medical’s independently developed vascular interventional surgical robot provides comprehensive support for stent procedures, including procedural planning, operational navigation, and intraoperative assistance. This ensures high precision and optimized efficiency while freeing physicians from reliance on manual operative experience; its precise force-feedback system also enhances operational stability. Most importantly, physicians can complete all procedural steps outside the operating room, thereby avoiding the hazards associated with prolonged, high-fatigue work under X-ray exposure.

Zheng Lingxiao, CEO of RainCardio, stated, “RainCardio firmly believes that innovation in hard technology will be the core driving force in China over the next decade. Meanwhile, the coming decade will also mark a ‘golden era’ of rapid development for China’s medical device industry. We hope RainCardio can serve as a strong example of independently developed intelligent medical technologies in China, empowering tiered diagnosis and treatment, reducing the burden on medical insurance, optimizing healthcare resource allocation, and improving the accuracy and efficiency of cardiovascular disease diagnosis and treatment in China while lowering overall costs.”
