Hainan Digital Therapeutics Policy Innovation Week Concludes Successfully in Haikou

On March 24, 2022, the “Hainan Digital Therapeutics Policy Symposium and Innovation Week,” guided by the Hainan Provincial Health Commission and hosted by VCBeat, successfully concluded in Haikou.

This series of seminars provided an overview of the policy landscape and cutting-edge developments in the digital therapeutics industry, attracting widespread attention from various sectors. It received strong support and deep engagement from leaders of relevant departments and industrial parks—including the Hainan Provincial Cyberspace Administration, the Provincial Development and Reform Commission, the Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, the Provincial Department of Commerce, the Provincial Healthcare Security Administration, the Provincial Medical Products Administration, the Hainan Bureau of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (CBIRC), the Provincial Big Data Administration, the Hainan International Economic Development Bureau, and the Administrative Bureau of the Boao Lecheng Pilot Zone—as well as the Hainan Eco-Software Park, related medical institutions, and representatives from international pharmaceutical companies, digital therapeutics firms, and insurtech enterprises such as Viatris, Bayer, Zhilan Health, Qianglian Zhichuang, Bostec, and Yuanxin Huibao. Attendees shared and exchanged insightful perspectives on digital therapeutics, engaging in in-depth discussions on strategic measures and industrial policies supporting the development of digital therapeutics in Hainan Province.

This event aims to implement the directives issued by the leadership of the Hainan Provincial Committee and Provincial People’s Government on promoting the development of Hainan’s digital therapeutics industry, through rational discussion and intellectual exchange. It seeks to seize opportunities, accelerate the formation of an industrial ecosystem supportive of digital therapeutics development, and strive to build Hainan into a global innovation hub for digital therapeutics, a cluster for innovative resources, and an industrial highland.

The three-day event saw participants discuss issues related to the development of the digital therapeutics industry,Clinical Research, Medical Device Approval, Health Insurance Reimbursement, Big Data and Cybersecurity, Commercial Insurance Payment, Market Entry for Overseas EnterprisesConducted five rounds of online and offline research and exchanges on these topics to clarify the basic policy framework, establish a policy support system for digital therapeutics, and accelerate the formation of Hainan’s first-mover advantage in the digital therapeutics industry.

Among these, the “Overseas Digital Therapeutics Companies’ Market Entry” seminar was held as an online session. Executives from international digital therapeutics companies and related platforms—including Femtec Health (USA), CardiacSense (Israel), Maibo Medical (Germany), and China-Europe Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation—participated in the event, engaging in in-depth discussions on topics such as market entry policies for overseas digital therapeutics companies, talent resource support, and localization strategies.

Third, it will build an innovative health data platform and formulate corresponding data management rules. Fourth, it will set up a digital therapeutics industry fund. Fifth, it will create a province-wide demonstration zone for digital therapeutics applications. Sixth, it will develop world-class academic and industry conference brands in digital therapeutics to elevate Hainan’s global standing and resource attraction capabilities in both the scientific and industrial sectors of digital therapeutics. Through these multifaceted measures, Hainan aims to foster a cohort of innovative digital therapeutics enterprises and industrial clusters. These overall considerations reflect Hainan’s unique advantages in institutional integrated innovation.”
