Since March of this year, a new wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has swept through Shanghai, posing a severe test for the general public, including all medical professionals and patients. To enable more patients with chronic diseases to stay at home with peace of mind during this special period, a large-scale patient care initiative themed “Combating the Pandemic with Wisdom, Medical Professionals Standing with You” was launched in Shanghai. Among its offerings, the online pro bono consultation service led by renowned cardiovascular specialists has been highly anticipated, aiming to address patients’ urgent needs through online Q&A sessions.

On the afternoon of April 7, Dr. Liu Ban, Associate Chief Physician in the Department of Cardiology at Shanghai Tenth People’s Hospital, will take over the free clinic session. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of metabolic disorders (including hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, and hyperuricemia), heart failure, coronary artery disease, and arrhythmias. His approach emphasizes comprehensive treatment based on thorough assessment, aiming to minimize adverse drug reactions and achieve synergistic management of multiple conditions with the fewest possible medications. This free clinic session offers 15 consultation slots, available on a first-come, first-served basis via QR code registration.

Recent editions of the "Report on Cardiovascular Diseases in China" indicate that cardiovascular disease mortality consistently ranks first, surpassing that of cancer and other diseases. Through this online free clinic initiative, renowned experts will join forces with internet healthcare platforms to provide patients with professional remote medical consultation services. This collaboration aims to alleviate the difficulties cardiovascular patients face in accessing hospital care, reduce the burden on hospitals, and effectively contribute to epidemic prevention and control. Interested individuals are welcome to scan the QR code to schedule text-and-image consultations. Let us work together to safeguard heart health!
