Researcher at the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASIA); Director of the Brainnetome Center, CASIA; and Director of the Beijing Key Laboratory of Brainnetome. He is a Foreign Member of the Academia Europaea (MAE), an IEEE Fellow, an IAPR Fellow, and an AIMBE Fellow. He is a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, a Chang Jiang Scholar Distinguished Professor, and the Chief Scientist of the National 973 Program. He currently serves on the editorial boards of several international journals, including Neural Networks and IEEE Transactions on Cognitive and Developmental Systems. He is the Chairman of the Beijing Society for Brainnetome and Brain-Inspired Intelligence, Executive Director of the Chinese Neuroscience Society and President of its Branch on Consciousness and Disorders of Consciousness, and Executive Director of the Chinese Society for Anatomical Sciences and President of its Branch on Brainnetome. He served as the General Chair of the 2021 International Joint Conference on Neural Networks (IJCNN 2021). Previously, he was a Council Member of the Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention Society (MICCAI) and the General Chair of its 13th Annual Conference (MICCAI 2010). His primary research interests include cross-modal multi-scale brainnetome atlas construction, brain-computer integration based on brainnetome atlases, and early prediction and precision treatment of brain disorders. His awards include the Turan Itil Award for Highest Achievement from the International Society for EEG and Clinical Neurophysiology (2021), the Hermann von Helmholtz Award for Lifetime Contribution from the International Neural Network Society (2020), the Wu Wenjun AI Outstanding Contribution Award (2020), the First Prize of the Beijing Natural Science Award (2021), and the Second Prize of the National Natural Science Award (2004).
