【Pharmaceutical Network Industry Dynamics] Artificial Intelligence (AI) is empowering new drug research and development with entirely new possibilities, while China's AI pharmaceutical market enters a phase of rapid growth. Data shows that in 2024, the scale of China's AI pharmaceutical market reached 560 million yuan, increasing by 36.6% year-on-year, and is expected to exceed 600 million yuan in 2025. Among this, CXO companies are also continuously leveraging AI technology to accelerate new drug R&D and improve service efficiency.

It is reported that on April 16, CXO company Tigermed signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Insilico Medicine, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical technology company driven by generative artificial intelligence. The achievement of this strategic cooperation marks the combination of AI technology and clinical development innovation capabilities of both parties, jointly exploring a more efficient and intelligent full-process R&D model in the development of drug candidates and the clinical research stage. Both parties will carry out long-term strategic cooperation around the clinical research of innovative drug products, using AI to accelerate and enhance the efficiency of drug R&D, helping innovative drugs reach the market faster and benefit patients worldwide.

In the collaboration, Insilico Medicine will work closely with Tigermed based on multiple AI applications independently developed for clinical scenarios. This includes using AI to continuously track and automatically interpret new regulatory rules and technical guidelines, automatically reviewing registration submission document packages, and automatically generating clinical-related documents.

Tigermed will fully leverage its end-to-end service advantages in the clinical research field to provide one-stop, customized professional support for Insilico Medicine's innovative drug products. The service scope comprehensively covers core areas such as clinical monitoring, data management and statistical analysis, medical affairs and writing translation, pharmacovigilance, regulatory affairs, quality control, and auditing. Tigermed will establish a dedicated service team, tailored to the technical characteristics of Insilico Medicine’s AI-driven drug development, to deliver efficient and professional one-stop support. Based on Tigermed’s extensive experience in clinical projects, both parties are expected to advance new drug development more efficiently while continuously iterating and training relevant AI tools, further unlocking their application value.

In addition to Tigermed, Haoyuan Chemexpress reached strategic cooperation with Mabwell and Insilico Medicine in 2025 to jointly build a novel ADC compound library covering hundreds of targets, screen and advance the next generation of ADC candidate molecules, and accelerate the industrialization of innovative ADC drugs. As an AI-driven drug discovery company, Insilico Medicine will utilize its Pharma.AI platform to design innovative payload-linkers with novel structures and strong selectivity based on the analysis of disease mechanisms, target characteristics, and toxicological structures. As a small molecule drug research and development service provider, Haoyuan Chemexpress will offer a rich repository of molecular building blocks and tool compounds, providing robust technical support for the synthesis of linker payloads in ADC drugs, achieving full-process collaboration and services from screening to clinical development together with the other two partners.

PORTON has previously collaborated with XtalPi, conducting in-depth cooperation in areas such as drug crystallization technology and process research and development, intelligent drug development platforms, and the expansion of biologics and formulation markets. Together, they promote the intelligent upgrading of drug research and production, enhancing the efficiency and success rate of key stages in drug design and preclinical development.

In addition, based on its deep accumulation of artificial intelligence and automation technology, Asymchem has successfully launched a fully automatic cell-free evolution platform that completely integrates three core technologies: AI intelligent design, cell-free protein synthesis (CFPS), and automated high-throughput (QCOM) screening. Relying on multi-dimensional data analysis and AI algorithm prediction, the platform provides the enzyme evolution process with the three-in-one core advantages of high-throughput (QCOM), high precision, and high efficiency, helping to achieve breakthrough progress in the field of synthetic biology.

Currently, AI technology is penetrating the new drug R&D industry chain in multiple dimensions. Chinese CXO companies, with their keen technical insight and strong service capabilities, have become a significant force in the wave of AI-driven pharmaceuticals. Through deep collaboration with AI enterprises and biotechnology companies, they have built a globally competitive pharmaceutical innovation ecosystem.
