Snoring (medically termed as snoring disorder, loud breathing during sleep, or sleep apnea syndrome) is a common sleep phenomenon. Most people consider it a normal physiological sign, and some even regard it as an indication of sound sleep.

In fact, from a medical perspective, snoring is a major threat to health. Snoring causes repeated pauses in breathing during sleep, leading to severe oxygen deprivation in the brain and blood, resulting in hypoxemia, which can trigger complications such as hypertension, coronary heart disease, diabetes, and stroke. If nighttime apnea episodes last longer than 120 seconds, the risk of sudden death increases significantly.

Traditional treatment methods include surgical intervention and ventilator therapy. The former involves surgically removing redundant tissues in the oral cavity to maintain patency of the airway space in the retropalatal region, thereby addressing snoring. The latter utilizes high-velocity airflow generated by the ventilator main unit, which is delivered through tubing into the upper airway to create positive pressure, thus resolving hypoventilation and snoring.

However, neither approach offers a permanent cure. Following surgical intervention, recurrence or worsening of the condition may occur as the patient’s status changes (e.g., weight gain, decreased immunity). Treatment with a ventilator requires wearing a mask; apart from the pronounced sensation of a foreign object on the face, the mask may become dislodged when the patient changes sleep positions. Furthermore, ventilators have a certain size and weight, making them inconvenient to carry and thereby affecting their usability.

Addressing the aforementioned pain points,Hanjing Health Management (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd.(hereinafter referred to as"Snore-Free Sleep"), it launched a non-invasive mandibular advancement solution, allowing patients to easily stop snoring. Its features include no surgery, no implants, and no need for a ventilator; the product is compact and easy to carry.

Customized Adjustable Tongue-Retaining Anti-Snoring Device: Balancing Efficacy and Comfort

HanJing Sleep's core product isCustomized Adjustable Tongue-Retaining Anti-Snoring Device. This product was launched inObtained NMPA Class II Medical Device Certificate in September 2020

This is a small device worn over the teeth, similar to a clear retainer or a sports mouthguard. Its therapeutic mechanism involves physical therapy: by using an upper jaw appliance and an anti-snoring device to restrict the mandible in an appropriate protrusive position, it pulls forward the soft tissues compressing the airway. This widens the airway, facilitates unobstructed breathing, and thereby achieves the goal of “eliminating” snoring.

This product utilizes materials with National Medical Device Administration import registration, is systematically designed based on patient-specific oral data, and is manufactured in strict compliance with the ISO 13485 quality management system. It is primarily indicated for patients with simple snoring and mild-to-moderate obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS). It may also serve as an alternative therapy for individuals with mandibular retrusion, or for those who are not surgical candidates or have experienced suboptimal surgical outcomes.

The treatment course with this product generally lasts 1 to 6 months, depending on the severity of the patient’s condition, and is primarily divided into two therapeutic phases. The first phase isComfort Observation Period, primarily assessing the comfort of the patient’s appliance; if issues such as tooth soreness arise, timely adjustments are made to ensure that forces are evenly distributed across each tooth. The second stage isIncremental Adjustment Period, Once the patient has adapted to wearing the appliance, the physician will make incremental adjustments in stages based on the patient’s condition until treatment is completed.

“The technical challenge with anti-snoring devices lies in the difficulty of balancing efficacy and comfort. Many anti-snoring devices on the market are mass-produced using uniform molds by manufacturers, rather than being customized based on the wearer’s oral anatomy. Because individual oral conditions vary, wearing mass-produced anti-snoring devices may lead to issues such as tooth discomfort and temporomandibular joint soreness. If patients experience discomfort, they will not wear the device, resulting in lack of therapeutic effect and failure to address the problem.” According to Gu Kanmin, founder of Hanjing Sleep, Hanjing Sleep’s custom-made, adjustable tongue-retaining anti-snoring deviceHighly adjustable precision, with incremental adjustment accuracy of 1/4 millimeter. This level of precision was established after repeated adjustments by experimental personnel, significantly reducing the foreign body sensation in the oral cavity, ensuring the safety and comfort of the product, and improving patient compliance.
