The digitalization of the healthcare industry has advanced from digital health into biotechnology.

Over the past year, ITBT has emerged as one of the key topics in discussions within the biopharmaceutical sector. The initial convergence of information technology (IT) and biotechnology (BT) has unlocked boundless possibilities across various stages, including molecular design, structure prediction, delivery method research, and clinical optimization. According to data from VCBeat, there were 77 financing events globally in 2021 in the AI-driven drug discovery sector alone, with total funding reaching $4.564 billion.

For the development of the biopharmaceutical industry, the emergence of IT technology has injected new vitality into the sector, prompting the traditionally highly closed pharmaceutical community to begin embracing the incremental information brought by external technological innovations. Meanwhile, the interdisciplinary nature of IT and BT (Biotechnology) is attracting capital from both sides. Capital that previously focused primarily on biomedicine is now paying attention to technological advancements in the IT sector, while TMT (Technology, Media, and Telecom) funds are beginning to examine issues from a BT perspective.

As IT technology becomes increasingly integrated into biomedicine, the focus within this interdisciplinary field is shifting. Practical application scenarios are no longer confined to molecular design, and business models are evolving from singular to composite structures.

On the afternoon of June 16, the ITBT Forum will be held online. It will explore the future direction of industry development by examining the comprehensive empowering capabilities of this track for the pharmaceutical industry, and will invite leading enterprises and capital firms to provide support for the development of ITBT.
