University-Enterprise Collaboration: Leveraging Postdoctoral Workstations to Attract Talent and Intellectual Resources

The establishment of a postdoctoral workstation within the enterprise is not only a significant measure for deeply implementing the Scientific Outlook on Development, executing the strategy of strengthening the country through talent, and building an innovative nation, but also an effective approach to promoting the integration of industry, academia, and research. Furthermore, it serves as a crucial strategy for Zhiyun Health to enhance its core competitiveness. Its establishment provides the company with a higher platform for development, marking a new phase in the company’s strategy of strengthening the enterprise through science and technology and in its organizational capability building. Meanwhile, it will help Yuhang District gradually build an industrial ecosystem centered on sci-tech innovation enterprises, injecting strong momentum into Yuhang District’s efforts to become a pioneer zone for the digital economy.

“Technological innovation, as a manifestation of a company’s core competitiveness, has always been the belief and goal pursued by Zhiyun Health,” stated Kuang Ming, Founder and CEO of Zhiyun Health, in his address at the conference. Since its establishment, the company has consistently adhered to a path integrating “industry, academia, research, and application,” establishing itself as a technological pioneer in the industry and achieving initial success as a “Chinese model” for digital chronic disease management. The establishment of this Postdoctoral Workstation will create a strong magnetic effect, attracting high-caliber talent and serving as a “nest to draw phoenixes,” which holds profound significance for the cultivation of high-level, strategic talent. Zhiyun Health will maximize the effectiveness of the Postdoctoral Workstation, continuously strengthen communication and cooperation with renowned domestic and international universities and research institutes, further enhance its independent innovation capabilities and technological development standards, achieve integration of industry, academia, research, and application, and contribute its efforts to promoting technological progress in the digital healthcare industry and fostering local economic development.

Professor Li Xi from the College of Computer Science and Technology at Zhejiang University stated in his address that the establishment of a postdoctoral workstation by Zhiyun Health plays a positive role in enhancing talent development within both enterprises and academic institutions, broadening horizons, expanding perspectives, and promoting scientific research. He expressed hope that Zhiyun Health and Zhejiang University will leverage the postdoctoral workstation to better achieve sharing of scientific research resources, industry-academia collaboration, and cultivation of high-end talents. By attracting talent through technology and gathering talent through industry, they aim to promote leapfrog development in basic research and deepen the integration of industry, academia, and research. This will further enhance the important role of the postdoctoral workstation as a collaborative platform between the university and local authorities, maximizing talent advantages and yielding more fruitful outcomes in science and technology.

Gu Guoyu, Member of the Standing Committee of the Yuhang District Committee of the Communist Party of China and Deputy District Mayor of Hangzhou, extended warm congratulations to Smart Health on the establishment of its postdoctoral workstation. Deputy District Mayor Gu stated that in recent years, Yuhang District has vigorously implemented strategies to rejuvenate the district through science and education and to strengthen it with talent, leveraging innovation platforms such as postdoctoral research workstations as key instruments for attracting and nurturing talent and promoting industry-academia-research collaboration. The district has gradually developed a postdoctoral work system tailored to local conditions and aligned with the professional growth patterns of high-level technical experts, cultivating a cohort of high-caliber talents in urgent short supply across the district. He expressed hope that Smart Health would utilize the postdoctoral workstation as a platform to vigorously advance the “talent + project” training model, actively harness the intellectual capabilities of high-level talents, and strive to effectively integrate economic advantages with knowledge-based strengths. By operating the postdoctoral workstation with distinct characteristics and high standards, Smart Health can provide robust talent support for Yuhang District’s initiative to build an “innovation-strong district” and make greater contributions to the development of both the healthcare sector and the local economy.

Research with Practical Value: The First Postdoctoral Research Project Successfully Launches

At the industry-academia-research collaboration symposium, the School of Artificial Intelligence at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications and the College of Computer Science and Technology at Zhejiang University engaged in in-depth discussions with Zhiyun Health’s product R&D and medical teams on tackling key technical challenges and facilitating the translation and implementation of scientific research achievements in future collaborations.

Meanwhile, the first postdoctoral fellow to join the station delivered a detailed report on the research background, significance, technical roadmap, and schedule of the project titled “Research and Development of an Intelligent Consultation System Based on Digital Chronic Disease Management,” integrating his professional expertise with the company’s actual needs. He also elaborated on the proposed solutions and innovations of the research project. The attendees reviewed the proposal, evaluated its feasibility, necessity, and innovativeness, and unanimously approved the initiation of the project. They agreed that the topic aligns with market demands, the research objectives are clear, the design is feasible, and the methodologies are advanced. Furthermore, they expressed anticipation for the tangible outcomes this project will deliver for Zhiyun Health in the future.

As the collaborative supervisor for the postdoctoral workstation, Professor Li Xi briefly introduced the training plan for the postdoctoral fellow’s tenure and outlined his expectations for future work, encouraging him to be “project-oriented, enterprise-oriented, and market-oriented.” Professor Li Xi pointed out that only by immersing oneself in project sites, adopting an enterprise perspective, and focusing on market demands can the “last mile” challenge of translating scientific and technological achievements into practical applications be effectively addressed.

The completion of the first postdoctoral researcher’s proposal marks the normalization of operations at the Postdoctoral Workstation. Moving forward, Zhiyun Health will leverage the Postdoctoral Workstation to continuously attract outstanding postdoctoral talent, fully realizing its role in talent attraction and development. This initiative will not only strengthen its own research team but also cultivate more young scientific researchers, further unlocking internal organizational and talent potential, thereby supporting the company’s long-term, stable growth through robust organizational capabilities.
