On June 29, the launch ceremony for the “Teacher Mental Health Education Capacity Building Initiative” and the online debut of the “Home-School-Community Collaborative Psychological Care Platform” were held in Beijing, aiming to enhance teachers’ capabilities in mental health education and actively explore approaches to promote the healthy development of adolescents.
Action Plan for Enhancing Teachers’ Competencies in Mental Health Education (hereinafter referred to as the “Action”) aims to leverage digital technologies and internet platforms to conduct training on mental health education for teachers, develop learning resources for mental health education, and build collaborative platforms involving schools, families, and communities for psychological support, thereby improving teachers’ competencies in mental health education and the overall standard of mental health education in schools. Implemented through a series of initiatives driven by government advocacy, participation from social organizations, and joint efforts by schools, families, and institutions specializing in psychology and psychiatry, the Action advocates for societal attention and support for mental health education, promoting the healthy physical and psychological development of adolescent students.
As a key vehicle for action, the “Home-School-Community Collaborative Psychological Care Platform” was officially launched on the same day. Targeting teachers, students, parents, and other groups, the platform offers services such as training in mental health education capabilities, guidance on psychological assessments, and compassionate free clinics. Users can follow the “Smiling Teachers and Students” WeChat official account to select the service portal for teachers, parents, or students, register, log in, and access relevant services. Meanwhile, the “Smiling Teachers and Students—Call for Popular Science Works on Mental Health for School Teachers and Students” was initiated, soliciting popular science content on mental health education from industries related to health and education. This initiative encourages broad participation from all sectors of society to foster a supportive atmosphere involving families, schools, and communities in caring for adolescents’ mental health, showcasing the significant achievements in psychological culture construction within families, schools, and society in the new era.
Relevant departments of the Ministry of Education, the Institute of Psychology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Faculty of Psychology at Beijing Normal University, and the Beijing Chaoyang Experimental Education Group, as well as WeDoctor Group, Beijing Xinshu Matrix Technology Co., Ltd., China Health Media Group, China Traditional Chinese Medicine News, China Press of Traditional Chinese Medicine, China Population Publishing House, and Student Health News, participated in the launch ceremony.
