Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a membership-based alternative payment model in which patients, employers, or health plans pay primary care providers a fixed periodic fee directly to ensure continuous access to primary care and preventive services within a medical home setting. No additional service fees are incurred, and third-party settlement is not required. DPC enables patients to continuously build trust with their primary care providers, whileImprove nursing outcomes and reduce healthcare costs; streamline clinical workflows and enhance patient experience

This innovative payment model has been welcomed by patients, physicians, employers, and policymakers across the United States. Currently, in48 states have more than 1,600 DPC clinical sites providing primary care services to patients in the United States.. The U.S. federal government launched in 2021“Primary Care Enhancement Act” (H.R.365 & S.158), aiming to expand access to high-quality primary care services for Americans of all income levels and age groups,However, the implementation of this payment model is challenged by issues such as the large patient population involved in Direct Primary Care (DPC), cumbersome operational processes, and high frequency of payments.
