Professor Tian Xu, Chair Professor of Genetics and Vice President of Westlake University, provided an in-depth analysis through three case studies, focusing on: how to precisely match a drug with a specific type of tumor; how to identify novel, precise drug targets and therapies for a particular tumor; and how to develop drugs tailored to individual-specific tumor gene mutations and changes in gene expression. He proposed that predicting drug responses and activating immune-based therapies based on each patient’s unique profile of gene expression, gene mutations, and tumor characteristics will be a key direction for future development and is expected to yield highly effective therapeutic outcomes.
Professor Amye Tevaarwerk, Chief of the Division of Medical Oncology at Mayo Clinic and Vice Chair of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Electronic Health Records (EHR) Oncology Group, drew upon her work at Mayo Clinic and personal research to provide an in-depth analysis of how novel information technologies can enhance the patient experience for cancer care. She examined this topic from multiple dimensions, including website utilization, hospital systems, patient communication, out-of-hospital management, and remote monitoring.
