FemTec Health

Developer of Women's Health Medical Service Platform

Recently, FemTec Health completed the acquisition of Ava. Over the past decade, Ava has collected data on millions of complete female menstrual cycles (with each cycle lasting 30 days). Its algorithm holds U.S. FDA 510(k) clearance and European medical certification. As a digital health product for precise ovulation monitoring, it has helped 70,000 women successfully conceive and enabled 500,000 women—including those with infertility issues such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)—to monitor their conditions or receive early disease warnings. Prior to the acquisition, Ava had secured RMB 300 million in financing. Following the acquisition, FemTec Health will collaborate with Ava to expand disease management applications globally and launch products in various forms together with wearable technology partners, further advancing wearable devices toward medical-grade, comprehensive health solutions for women.

Headquartered next to the University of Zurich in Switzerland, Ava maintains close scientific research collaborations with the university. Its team includes reproductive specialists and data science experts from the University of Zurich. With nearly a decade of clinical research, Ava focuses on meeting women’s monitoring needs related to menstrual cycles, infertility, and ovarian decline through precise tracking of the fertile window using wearable devices and long-term monitoring of reproductive hormones. Its algorithms have been maturely applied in several areas, with ongoing deployment for early warning of premature ovarian insufficiency and pregnancy-related complications.

• A menstrual management solution suitable for all women

• Natural Conception for Women with Menstrual Cycle Irregularities

• Disease Warning and Management of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)

• Natural Family Planning/Contraception

In the Chinese market, Ava will collaborate with domestic partners to launch products in the form of smartbands and rings, apply for medical device registration for applications in specific fields, create closed-loop solutions targeting disease areas, and simultaneously explore both B2B and B2C markets.

Livongo Founders Embark on a New Venture

“To achieve the goal of providing one-stop, personalized women’s health services across the entire life cycle, two key elements are essential: first, substantial capital investment; and second, a strong team, comprising a technology R&D group with years of industry experience and a deep understanding of women’s health needs, as well as a management team capable of leveraging global medical resources,” added Bu Qihong, Chief Operating Officer of FemTec Health Asia.

This is precisely the case with the team at FemTec Health. Founder Dr. Kimon Angelides is a successful serial entrepreneur with fifty years of experience in healthcare, wellness, corporate partnerships, and consumer goods across both public and private companies, wielding significant influence particularly in the digital health sector.

He has successively founded Livongo (NASDAQ: LVGO, which went public in July 2019, raising $355 million in its initial public offering at a valuation of $4.4 billion, and was later acquired by Teladoc for $18.5 billion), Vivante Health, DiabetesAmerica (which pioneered bundled payments, vendor risk models, and remote patient monitoring at its diabetes centers), and mAbGen (a cancer biotechnology company that collaborated with the world-renowned MD Anderson Cancer Center and was later acquired by Valeant Pharmaceuticals).

Angelides has also assembled a female-led team, including Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Kimberly Capone, who brings over 13 years of experience at Johnson & Johnson, where she previously served as the Global Head of the Microbiome Platform for Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health. Fant aims to drive change in the gender disparities women face in healthcare, advocating for greater investment focus on women’s diseases and working to ensure that misdiagnosis rates for women are no longer significantly higher than those for men.
