Zhenbaodao Huangqi Injection Listed in Top Evidence Index of Clinical Evidence-Based Evaluation for Chinese Patent Medicines in Heart Failure Treatment

Recently, the Parallel Forum on Evidence-Based Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) of the 14th Healthy China Forum, co-hosted by People’s Daily Health Client, Health Times, and the Chinese Center for Evidence-Based Medicine, along with the Press Conference for the Release of the Clinical Evidence Index for Proprietary Chinese Medicines (the 3rd edition), concluded successfully. The forum prominently released the Annual Report on Evidence-Based TCM (2020–2021) and the Clinical Evidence Index Rankings in the two major fields of heart failure and arrhythmia. It is understood that the 2022 “Top Ranking of Clinical Evidence Indices for Chinese Proprietary Medicines Based on Evidence-Based Evaluation” was developed by evaluating and conducting translational research on clinical evidence for Chinese proprietary medicines used in the treatment of arrhythmia and heart failure. This process leveraged the Evidence-Based Evaluation Database System (EVDS) for Traditional Chinese Medicine, established by the Center for Evidence-Based Medicine at Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and incorporated expert assessments to generate the ranking of clinical evidence indices for Chinese proprietary medicines.

At the forum, Academician Zhang Boli pointed out in his speech that evidence-based medicine is an internationally recognized approach for guiding medical and healthcare practices and scientific decision-making based on evidence. It is not only suitable for Western medicine but can also guide high-quality clinical research in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Generating high-quality evidence that highlights the clinical efficacy advantages of TCM by employing globally accepted research methodologies is a key task for achieving high-quality development of TCM.
