Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) announced the list of entities selected for the AI Medical Device Innovation Task “Unveiling the List” initiative. DeepWise earned honors as two “List-Unveiling Entities” and four “High-Potential Entities.” In total, six projects led or participated in by DeepWise were included on the list, primarily focusing on intelligent auxiliary diagnostic products, medical AI databases, clinical trial platforms, and real-world data applications. The large number of listed projects and the broad scope of research are rare among medical AI companies.

The AI Medical Device Innovation Challenge, jointly initiated by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), has selected a cohort of entities with strong innovation capabilities to conduct focused research and development, thereby promoting the innovative advancement of AI-enabled medical devices. The selected entities are categorized into two groups: “Challenge Undertakers” and “Potential Entities.” In principle, “Challenge Undertakers” serve as the primary bodies responsible for tackling the innovation tasks, while “Potential Entities” may voluntarily continue to implement the challenge tasks.

01 List-Revealing Entity

Direction: Intelligent AI-Assisted Diagnostic Products

Aneurysm CT Angiography Image-Assisted Detection Software

DeepWise’s aneurysm CT angiography imaging-assisted detection software, which was featured on the list this time, ranked among the top in the category of intelligent auxiliary diagnostic product providers. This marks the third major award the project has received within a week.

DeepWise’s AI-assisted detection software for aneurysm CT angiography is a one-stop AI solution for aneurysm detection, integrating 3D post-processing of intracranial vessels, intracranial aneurysm detection, and assisted analysis. The product has been approved to enter the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) Innovative Medical Device Review Channel. Related research findings were supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and published in Nature Communications (IF: 14.919), representing rare multi-center validation results for AI-based detection of intracranial aneurysms.

Direction: Medical AI Database

Medical AI Database for Respiratory Diseases

This project is led by West China Hospital of Sichuan University, which has jointly established an “industry-academia-research-application-medicine” task force with Sichuan University, DeepWise, and other partners to carry out collaborative development. The database is designed to support the training and validation of AI products for respiratory diseases, while also establishing standards and specifications for databases used in such AI products, including data security and protection protocols.

02 Potential Units

Direction: Intelligent Assisted Diagnostic Products

Lung Cancer Multimodal Data Fusion-Assisted Diagnostic Software

Led by Chengdu Huaxi Precision Medicine Industry Innovation Center Co., Ltd., and jointly developed with Sichuan University and DeepWise, this project holds clinical value in addressing missed diagnoses of early-stage lung cancer, reducing misdiagnoses, and guiding precise early treatment for lung cancer.

Direction: Clinical Trial Platform for AI-Based Medical Devices

Minimally Invasive Medicine AI Medical Device Clinical Trial Platform

Led by Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, and jointly implemented with Zhejiang University, DeepWise, and other partners, this project is expected to provide support services for AI-assisted diagnostic devices (minimally invasive/non-invasive), AI-assisted preoperative planning devices, AI-powered surgical robots, and surgical navigation systems.

AI Clinical Trial Platform for Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Imaging

Led by the General Hospital of the Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, in collaboration with Beijing Anzhen Hospital and DeepWise, this project aims to advance the standardization and normalization of clinical research on AI-based cardiovascular and cerebrovascular imaging in China. It seeks to facilitate early detection of cardiovascular diseases and population-wide screening, comprehensively improve the efficacy and homogeneity of imaging diagnosis, and provide evidence-based support for the clinical application of artificial intelligence in China.

Direction: Real-World Data Application Platform for AI-Based Medical Devices

Real-World Data Application Platform for Interventional Diagnosis and Treatment of Complex Cardiovascular Diseases

Led by Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University and jointly participated in by enterprises such as DeepWise, this project focuses on establishing a data processing technical system tailored to the data characteristics of diseases related to interventional diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. By promoting data resource development through practical applications, it aims to provide higher-quality data and data acquisition standards for AI-based medical devices.

“Unveiling the List” refers to the government’s initiative to identify and develop critical core technologies that are urgently needed. By leveraging macroeconomic regulation, the government publicly lists these key technological projects to pool wisdom and resources from all sectors, optimize and integrate scientific and technological assets, and thereby maximize innovation value. In recent years, AI-driven innovative applications have become deeply embedded in traditional medical workflows, providing crucial insights for the upgrading and transformation of the healthcare industry.

DeepWise is a leader in the field of medical artificial intelligence, with its products distributed across more than 30 provinces and municipalities throughout China. It provides end-to-end AI services to thousands of medical institutions, including AI-assisted diagnosis, intelligent screening, clinical decision support, patient services, medical big data governance, scientific research, physician training, and capacity building. The company has led or participated in seven major special projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, nine projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and over 30 provincial- and municipal-level research projects. DeepWise holds more than 700 patents and software copyrights, with cumulative impact factors exceeding 1,200.DeepWise’s robust capabilities in scientific research and product development have made it one of the few medical AI companies in China to hold five Class III medical device certificates issued by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA). In the recently announced list, the absolute advantages of DeepWise’s six featured projects perfectly demonstrate the company’s comprehensive strength.
