2022 China Isotope and Radiation Industry Summit Successfully Held in Sichuan

On August 18, the 2022 China Isotope and Radiation Industry Summit was successfully held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. Luo Qiang, Vice Governor of Sichuan Provincial People’s Government; Dong Baotong, Deputy Director of the National Atomic Energy Agency; Ye Min, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and Director of the National Nuclear Safety Administration; and Gu Jun, General Manager of China National Nuclear Corporation, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Chen Guanghao, Deputy Secretary of the Leshan Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Leshan City, presided over the opening ceremony. Numerous guests took the stage to jointly participate in the summit’s launch ceremony, pressing the “start button” to officially kick off the event.

At the opening ceremony, Ma Bo, Secretary of the Leshan Municipal Party Committee, and Jing Maoming, Deputy Director of the Sichuan Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology, delivered industry presentations, while Yu Junchong, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, gave a keynote speech. The unveiling ceremonies for the “National Engineering Research Center for Isotopes and Pharmaceuticals” and its “Pilot Scale Base” were held, along with a signing ceremony for major projects. Six key projects in the isotope and radiation industry in Jiajiang County, Sichuan Province, were signed, with a total contract value of RMB 34 billion.

 

At the main venue event following the opening ceremony, distinguished guests—including Yang Qi, Honorary Chairman of the Sichuan Provincial Association for Nuclear Technology Applications and former President of the Nuclear Power Institute of China; Wang Suohui, Party Secretary and Chairman of China Isotope & Radiation Corporation; Luo Zhifu, Chief Expert in Isotope Production and Application at China National Nuclear Corporation and Deputy Chief Engineer of the China Institute of Atomic Energy; and Wang Xipo, Deputy General Manager of CGN Nuclear Technology Development Co., Ltd.—delivered industry-themed reports.

 

At the Isotope Sub-venue and Radiation Technology Sub-venue sessions held on the afternoon of the 18th, more than ten experts, scholars, and corporate representatives delivered insightful keynote presentations. The topics covered industrial development and the latest technological applications in areas such as nuclear technology in healthcare, isotope production, radiation processing, and radiation protection. Concurrently, the Third Council Meeting of the Seventh Session of the China Isotope and Radiation Association was held. In addition, the summit organizers arranged exhibition displays and site visits.

 

It is reported that the summit was attended by more than 300 distinguished guests and representatives from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), relevant Chinese government agencies, social organizations, research institutes, universities, and enterprises and public institutions. Participants jointly discussed hot topics and future trends in the isotope and radiation industry, shared the latest technological advancements and high-quality industry achievements, further established a long-term mechanism for technical exchange and commercial cooperation in China’s isotope and radiation industry, and promoted the high-quality development of China’s nuclear technology application industry.
