Recently, Shanghai Resthetic Biotech Co. Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Resthetic Bio" or "the company") announced the completion of a nearly 100-million-yuan Pre-A round of financing, led by Ruili Capital and Nuoyu Capital. As a high-tech enterprise deeply engaged in the field of cell regenerative medicine, Resthetic Bio will primarily use the funds obtained from this round to accelerate the advancement of its core product pipeline—tissue-engineered bone and cartilage regeneration technology products—towards clinically promotable stages, laying a solid technical and data foundation for subsequent registration clinical trials.

Resthetic Bio was founded in November 2017 and is located in the Shanghai Zizhu Science Park. The company is dedicated to solving the core clinical issue of tissue and organ loss and functional impairment through innovative technologies in the fields of cell and tissue engineering. As a cutting-edge discipline in biomedical engineering, tissue engineering is regarded as a key component of the "third medical revolution" following drug therapy and surgical treatment. Its fundamental principle involves extracting a small amount of autologous cells (such as stem cells, bone marrow fluid, or ear cartilage) from the patient’s body, expanding and culturing them in vitro, then combining them with biodegradable scaffold materials to construct bioactive tissues. These tissues are ultimately implanted into the human body to achieve "living tissue regeneration." This technical approach not only avoids the trauma associated with traditional autologous transplantation, often described as "robbing Peter to pay Paul," but also completely eliminates the risks of rejection and infection that may be caused by artificial materials.

It is reported that Resthetic Bio was incubated by the National Engineering Research Center for Tissue Engineering. Most of the founding team members are senior experts in this field and have participated in the milestone research of "mouse back human ear" in the field of tissue engineering. Relying on the integration platform of industry, academia, research, and medicine, such as the National Engineering Research Center, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and the affiliated Ninth People's Hospital, Resthetic Bio has mastered the full-link technology of the three core elements: seed cells, scaffold materials, and regenerative microenvironment. Currently, the company has established a complete system for research and development, production, and quality control. The relevant seed cells and scaffold materials have obtained safety certification from the National Institutes for Food and Drug Control (NIFDC) and built a full-process GMP mass production workshop, laying a hardware foundation for the scaled application of the technology.

In terms of clinical translation, Resthetic Bio has made substantial progress. The company has currently developed three product pipelines targeting bone and cartilage defect repair, and has collaborated with several well-known tertiary hospitals to conduct more than 10 exploratory clinical studies, accumulating over 200 clinical cases. Among them, two projects—"Autologous Tissue-Engineered Bone Transplantation for Nasal Turbinate Reconstruction" and "Tissue-Engineered Cartilage for Cleft Lip and Palate Nasal Deformity Correction"—have received stem cell clinical research registration from the National Health Commission. These technologies have achieved key breakthroughs in areas such as Empty Nose Syndrome and cleft lip nasal deformities, where traditional treatment methods have significant limitations. Follow-up data shows that the implanted tissue-engineered bone and cartilage can survive stably in the long term, with remarkable clinical outcomes.

According to reports, with the completion of this round of financing, Resthetic Bio will further accelerate the advancement of multi-center clinical trials. The company will rely on relevant policies such as Decree No. 818 of the State Council to cultivate leading hospitals and doctor teams in each province through multi-center clinical research, actively promoting the application and transformation of technological achievements. It aims to bring this innovative regenerative medicine solution to a broader market as soon as possible, benefiting more patients.
