MegaRobo and Danaher Life Sciences Forge Strategic Partnership to Advance Intelligent Lab Automation
On August 31, 2022, MEGA Robotics and Danaher Life Sciences held a strategic cooperation signing ceremony at the MEGA Kunpeng Laboratory (Beijing), establishing a long-term strategic partnership focused on comprehensive industry solutions in the life sciences sector. Leveraging laboratory automation application needs, this collaboration will integrate both parties’ core technical capabilities and advantageous resources to jointly advance intelligent automation solutions for the life sciences field, particularly in drug screening, biopharmaceuticals, and cell and gene therapy. In the future, both parties will also explore broader and more in-depth cooperative application scenarios.

In recent years, with the rapid development of the life sciences industry, the demand for automation in laboratory settings has become increasingly prominent. On one hand, life sciences are transitioning from experimental science to data science, leading to a sharp increase in the demand for massive amounts of data in fields such as drug screening, targeted drug development, and gene sequencing; traditional processing efficiencies can no longer meet scientists' needs. On the other hand, in clinical diagnostic laboratory settings, there is a growing requirement for faster and more accurate test results, complete traceability, and compliance with certified quality standards.
Against this backdrop, MEGA Robotics and Danaher Life Sciences have joined forces to co-develop comprehensive laboratory automation solutions characterized by high intelligence, high throughput, and scalability. Leveraging Danaher Life Sciences’ advanced sample processing technologies and products, multidimensional observation and analysis capabilities spanning tissues, cells, and molecules, as well as the expertise of its professional scientific teams in biopharmaceuticals, gene therapy development, and molecular diagnostics, the partnership integrates MEGA’s cutting-edge intelligent automation platform, robust system integration capabilities, and open, flexible software applications. This collaboration aims to enhance R&D efficiency and drive business innovation.

Ms. Zhang Kerong began with SCIEX’s 50-year history of innovation, describing how SCIEX’s mass spectrometry and capillary electrophoresis technologies enable workflows from research to routine analysis in fields such as pharmaceuticals, clinical testing, life science research, food, environment, and forensics.

Through this collaboration, both parties will focus on intelligent automation solutions in multiple areas of biopharmaceuticals. The Chinese biopharmaceutical sector has experienced rapid growth in recent years; however, its R&D processes are cumbersome and complex, relying heavily on manual operations. This not only consumes significant time and effort but also poses issues such as human error affecting test results and biosafety risks, which have become major factors constraining R&D efficiency in biopharmaceuticals. Through this partnership, MEGA will join hands with Danaher Life Sciences to create intelligent automation solutions tailored for the biopharmaceutical industry, achieving end-to-end automation from sample pre-processing to data analysis, reengineering new drug development workflows, and comprehensively enhancing R&D efficiency. Danaher Life Sciences provides integrated solutions spanning “antibody development,” “process development and preclinical studies,” “process scale-up and clinical trials,” to “commercial manufacturing.” These solutions deliver high-throughput, comprehensive, and regulatory-compliant product technologies and services aligned with the various stages of biopharmaceutical development.
MegaRobo Technologies and Danaher Life Sciences will also engage in in-depth collaboration to advance the intelligent upgrading of process development and quality control in biopharmaceutical manufacturing, delivering superior solutions for laboratory automation equipment development and process optimization.
