
In 2018, the General Office of the State Council issued the "Guiding Opinions on Promoting the Development of 'Internet + Medical Health'," which proposed allowing medical institutions to provide certain internet-based medical services, such as follow-up consultations for common and chronic diseases, thereby clarifying the development direction for "Internet + Medical Health." Against this backdrop, internet hospitals, as a new business model derived from "Internet + Healthcare," have experienced rapid growth. The COVID-19 pandemic further acted as an accelerator, propelling the internet healthcare industry into a period of explosive expansion.
This summer, members of the first cohort of the “Rongchang-Boyi” Excellence Program for Medical Students at Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine“Smart Healthcare, Safeguarding Health”: Exploring the Development Model of Internet Hospitals under Normalized Epidemic Prevention and ControlCentered on this theme, we conducted practical research and surveys across 19 provinces and municipalities, aiming to explore and analyze the current development status and future pathways for high-quality growth of internet hospitals through expert interviews, hospital visits, and corporate tours.

To deepen the practical outcomes, the practice team initiated and organized this event under the guidance and support of the China Hospital Development Institute at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the Communist Youth League Committee of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, and the Student Innovation Center of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.“Smart Healthcare, Doctor-Patient Connectivity” — Thematic Forum on the Innovative Development of Internet Hospitals under Normalized Epidemic Prevention and Control. The forum will invite industry experts to share insights on the development of internet hospitals under normalized epidemic prevention and control measures, further analyzing the diversified development prospects of “Internet Hospital + X.” By establishing a communication platform for internet healthcare development, the forum aims to facilitate more substantial progress in the growth of internet hospitals.
