Hongpai Medical Completes First-Ever Clinical Implantation of Sinuous® Heparin-Coated Peripheral Small Vessel Covered Stent in China

On September 6, at the Vascular Access Center of the Jinshan Campus of the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, the first nationwide case using the domestically produced Sinuous was completed.^®Implantation of Heparin-Coated Covered Stents in Peripheral Small Vessels. This is also the first heparin-coated peripheral covered stent in China to enter clinical trials, filling a gap in this field domestically.

This clinical trial was led by Professor Zhao Yu from the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, with Professor Fu Qining performing the surgery. The patient’s postoperative vital signs were stable, recovery was favorable, and clinical follow-up results were satisfactory. The patient fully acknowledged the professionalism of this study.

Currently, there are approximately 132 million patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in China, including about 670,000 patients undergoing dialysis. As the preferred vascular access for patients on maintenance hemodialysis, the arteriovenous fistula (AVF) serves as the “lifeline” for hemodialysis in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Stenosis of the arteriovenous fistula is the most common complication of AVFs and the primary cause of fistula failure.
