Fosun Health Unveils Next-Gen Smart Healthcare Cloud Platform at Inaugural 'Jian Mian' Event, Advancing Medical Digitalization
On the afternoon of September 6, the “Jianmian” series of events hosted by Fosun Health was held with great enthusiasm in Zhangjiang, Shanghai. The event centered on topics such as Fosun Health’s strategic planning in the new era, the empowering value of its public welfare “Cloud Guardian” platform, and new initiatives in the digital transformation of medical groups. As the inaugural event of a series, the first “Healthcare Frontiers” session, themed “Digital Intelligence in Healthcare for Healthy Rural Communities,” highlighted the recently launched next-generation smart healthcare cloud platform (hereinafter referred to as “Cloud HIS”) at the main campus of Foshan Fosun Chancheng Hospital (hereinafter referred to as “Foshan Chancheng Hospital”), with live demonstrations of its application scenarios for both physicians and patients.
It is reported that six hospitals, including the main campus and Chengnan Branch of Foshan Chancheng Central Hospital, have already launched the new-generation cloud-based Hospital Information System (HIS). “Leveraging dual SaaS solutions (HIS-SaaS and Internet SaaS), Fosun Health has further strengthened the development of the regional medical consortium centered on the main campus of Foshan Chancheng Central Hospital, establishing a new integrated model for healthcare services across online and offline channels, within and outside hospital settings, and throughout the pre-, intra-, and post-consultation phases.”
According to reports, the new-generation cloud Hospital Information System (HIS) is a knowledge-driven innovative medical information system jointly developed by Fosun Health and Winning Health. It is built upon a digital transformation platform for healthcare based on the “middle-platform” architecture. In the early stages, teams from both parties conducted thorough research into the various needs of Foshan Chancheng Central Hospital and identified the pain points associated with the legacy system. Guided by hospital operational workflows and grounded in the enhancement of service capabilities, they redefined in-hospital informational interaction modules according to different clinical scenarios. By implementing all modules in a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model, they have fully integrated in-hospital diagnostic and treatment services with out-of-hospital health management services.
“Hospital administrative departments can fully leverage internal systems for medical care, nursing, patient services, and operational management to carry out refined hospital management tasks, including business processing, data verification, and workflow management,” explained Hu Hang, President of Fosun Health and Director of Foshan Chancheng Hospital. In terms of data management, the cloud-based Hospital Information System (HIS) enables comprehensive management and interoperability of all hospital data, including electronic medical records, imaging, and laboratory information systems. Frontline clinical staff can browse, query, collect, and transmit patient-related information anytime and anywhere through the system. Newly generated data can also be synchronized in real time to the data middle platform via the network. “Efficient data co-creation and sharing break down information silos, significantly enhancing healthcare professionals’ work efficiency, clinical decision-making responsiveness, and communication effectiveness, while also helping to prevent clinical errors to a certain extent.”
Hospital physicians have also praised the launch of the new system, stating, “The single-screen display feature is particularly impressive, as it integrates all the routine functions we need in our daily practice and presents key diagnostic and treatment information for patients. We no longer need to frequently switch between different interfaces! Moreover, the professional medical data embedded within the new system assists in diagnosing common diseases, significantly improving the efficiency of writing medical orders and clinical notes.”
Notably, leveraging the dual SaaS platform, member hospitals under Fosun Health have transcended the limitations of traditional operational models. By breaking down hospital “walls” and crossing departmental boundaries, high-quality medical resources have been further unlocked. This enables top-tier physicians to move beyond single-hospital systems and empower more same-specialty hospitals within the medical group, ultimately helping more hospitals achieve digital and intelligent department development as well as comprehensive patient management.
For patients and their families, issues such as complex medical procedures, cumbersome administrative formalities, and difficulties in seeking cross-regional and cross-hospital care have severely impacted the healthcare experience. The intelligent services of the new-generation cloud Hospital Information System (HIS) streamline the entire diagnostic and treatment process—pre-hospital, in-hospital, and post-hospital—creating a closed-loop smart healthcare service ecosystem. This effectively provides patients with an "invisible companion" during their medical visits. Ms. Wu (a pseudonym), a patient, stated, "With this mini-program, I no longer need to endure long queues for appointment registration, waiting, payment, or retrieving test reports; everything can be handled online via my smartphone. Additionally, when I feel unwell, I can use the platform to perform self-checks based on my symptoms." While addressing confusion in seeking medical care, this solution also significantly reduces the time and financial burdens associated with travel for out-of-town patients. The realization of seamless information flow and cross-hospital sharing of electronic health records enables patients across different regions to access convenient, high-quality, and efficient healthcare services right at their doorstep.
Hu Hang, President of Fosun Health and Dean of Foshan Chancheng Hospital, further added that to enhance the convenience and continuity of patients’ online and offline medical care, the hospital’s WeChat mini-program not only features standard service modules but also specially integrates specialized department services unique to Chancheng Hospital. These include the “Chanyi at Home” in-home nursing service, the “Chanyi Private Doctor” family physician service, and full-course disease management services for patients with specific conditions.
With the accumulation and management of more patient information data, personalized medicine will gradually be improved and implemented. By establishing patient health records, medical staff can efficiently and comprehensively track patients' health conditions, especially for the integrated health management of chronic disease patients.

As planned, Fosun Health will implement cloud-based Hospital Information System (HIS) infrastructure for its member hospitals in the Pearl River Delta Greater Bay Area by the end of 2022. Currently, Foshan Xinglian Nursing Home, Guangzhou Xinshi Hospital, and Shenzhen Hengsheng Hospital have completed their requirements assessments. Foshan Xinglian Nursing Home has entered the phase of data preparation and interface integration development. Moving forward, each hospital will comprehensively consider its own operational strengths and regional user needs, leveraging the cloud HIS platform to deploy customized service modules.
Leveraging the “wild goose formation effect” generated by the comprehensive deployment of its integrated online-offline healthcare solutions in the Greater Bay Area, Fosun Health’s Smart Medical Cloud Platform will radiate influence to and drive multiple hospitals under the Fosun Health umbrella in other economic zones, including the Yangtze River Delta, the Huaihai Economic Zone, the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Belt, and the Central China Economic Belt, thereby promoting coordinated development of healthcare across these regions.
