Developer, Manufacturer, and Distributor of In Vitro Diagnostic Reagents and Instruments

VCBeat (WeChat: vcbeat) has learned that Lansionbio, a well-known high-tech enterprise in the field of in vitro diagnostics in China, recently announced the completion of its D2 round of financing, amounting to nearly RMB 100 million. This round was led by a government fund, with China Renaissance Capital serving as the exclusive financial advisor.

This marks another round of capital support for Lansionbio, following the hundreds of millions in Series D1 financing it secured from CICC Capital and Dongpingheng Capital in the first half of this year. The funds from this round will be primarily used to expand its presence in both domestic and overseas markets and accelerate the penetration of its distribution network down to the end-user level.

Nanjing Lansion Biotechnology Co., Ltd. was established in 2016 and is a high-tech enterprise dedicated to the research and development, manufacturing, application, and integrated services of in vitro diagnostic reagents and related instruments for human use in the biomedical field.

In terms of business operations, while overcoming the technical barriers of active microfluidics, Lansionbio has explored multiple testing platforms, including immunofluorescence, microfluidics, chemiluminescence, electrochemistry, and molecular diagnostics. Centered on multi-platform integration, the company has developed nearly 500 product lines covering approximately 90% of disease types, such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, infections, and tumors. Characterized by miniaturization, simplicity, speed, and accuracy, Lansionbio provides comprehensive solutions to medical institutions at all levels. Its products are exported to nearly 100 countries and regions, meeting the diagnostic and treatment needs of over 30,000 medical institutions and more than 200 million households.

Driven by the policies of the "Healthy China" strategy and the Outline of the 14th Five-Year Plan, medical institutions at all levels have continuously increased their investment in laboratory infrastructure, accelerating the trend among testing service providers to unbundle traditionally integrated hospital processes such as testing and diagnosis. Currently, clinical departments in hospitals remain the primary end-users; however, with the advancement of tiered diagnosis and treatment and the establishment of five major emergency care centers, the vast market demand at the grassroots level will gradually be unlocked, making primary healthcare institutions the main battlefield for domestically produced POCT (Point-of-Care Testing) products.

Meanwhile, rigid demand in China’s home-based POCT market has surged. According to data from the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association, the number of patients with chronic diseases in China exceeded 260 million in 2020, and the sub-health population accounted for 70%. As the aging of the population intensifies, the incidence rates of chronic conditions such as diabetes, chronic kidney disease, cancer, and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases have risen significantly. Apart from in-hospital treatment, the management and monitoring of chronic diseases largely rely on patients’ self-care and testing outside healthcare institutions, thereby driving rapid growth in the home-based POCT market.

Xu Xingshang, Chairman and General Manager of Lansionbio, stated that the post-pandemic era has generated greater demand for home-based testing. With shifting health concepts, the hospital-centric, symptom-oriented diagnosis and treatment model is gradually evolving toward community and daily home healthcare scenarios. Under 5G connectivity, telemedicine is no longer constrained by technical limitations. In the future, more Lansionbio products will be deployed in home settings and connected to hospital terminals via networks, thereby better helping hospitals divert patient flow and supporting tiered diagnosis and treatment.

From the "Healthy China" initiative to the 14th Five-Year Plan, the policy framework for smart healthcare is becoming increasingly comprehensive. Over the past five years, numerous policies related to the medical industry have been successively issued by entities ranging from the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council to various ministries and commissions. These policies emphasize the critical supporting role of informatization and next-generation information technologies in the medical sector, marking a period of intensive policy support for smart healthcare. Downstream demand in the industry is expected to surge significantly, creating an urgent need for capacity expansion in related fields.

In response, Lansionbio has addressed the pain point of inadequate informatization in primary healthcare by leveraging internet-based medical services to establish itself as a one-stop service provider for grassroots institutions. With informatization empowerment as its entry point, Lansionbio has developed the Lansionbio Primary Care Diagnosis and Treatment Solution for primary medical institutions. The company is gradually introducing new products such as primary care follow-up kits and home diagnosis and treatment packages, thereby facilitating the implementation of information technology at the grassroots level, promoting the routine development of smart healthcare, and creating new drivers for business growth.

Lansionbio stated that, leveraging favorable policies and the long-term positive market trend, it will continue to deepen its multi-scenario applications. The company’s platform-based characteristics are continuously enhancing its ability to operate and launch new individual products, while its full-industry-chain layout is creating comprehensive advantages in channels, branding, and product offerings. By driving continuous innovation in its technology sector and expanding its channel network, Lansionbio aims to boost brand influence through this dual-pronged development strategy, build comprehensive competitive advantages, achieve deep coverage across thousands of cities and towns, empower emerging healthcare institutions, and contribute to the Healthy China initiative.
