Frontier Exploration: The Cell and Gene Therapy Industry Holds a Promising Future
In recent years, the cell and gene therapy (CGT) industry has experienced rapid growth, addressing unmet clinical needs and offering hope for curing genetic disorders, malignant tumors, refractory chronic diseases, and infectious diseases. National and local governments have intensively rolled out supportive policies to bolster the development of the CGT sector. Currently, 19 CGT products have been approved for commercial sale worldwide. In 2021, two CAR-T products received marketing approval in China, and multiple cell and gene therapy products have obtained implicit clinical trial approvals. The CGT industry in China has set sail and is poised to enter its golden age.
Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Boosting the Development of the Cell and Gene Therapy Industry
The inaugural “Tianhai Cup” Cell and Gene Therapy Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition has officially kicked off, with registration now in full swing. Focused on the biopharmaceutical sector, the competition highlights innovative R&D achievements in cell and gene therapy (CGT), emphasizes technological and service innovation, and actively promotes the translation and commercialization of innovative outcomes. Distinguished industry experts, scholars, leading entrepreneurs, and investors will serve as judges, providing high-quality projects with opportunities for collaboration, exchange, and financing.
This competition is jointly hosted by the Haihe Laboratory of Cell Ecosystem, the Institute of Hematology & Blood Diseases Hospital (Institute of Hematology) of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, the Tianjin Institute of Health and Medicine of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and the Administrative Committee of Tianjin Binhai High-Tech Industrial Development Zone.Pool efforts to bridge the “last mile” in translating research findings into practical applications, contributing to the high-quality development of the biopharmaceutical industry.

Eligibility Criteria
(1) Scope of Competition Entries: CGT innovative drugs, key equipment in the CGT industry chain, raw and auxiliary materials and packaging materials, and innovative technology service platforms
(2) Entrepreneurial teams with technological innovation achievements and business plans in the field of Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT), with no fewer than three core team members
(3) The products and technologies of the participating projects have clear intellectual property rights and are free from any ownership disputes.
