Developer of Complex Drug Delivery Devices
Recently, Suzhou Singmed Medical Device Science and Technology Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Singmed”), which focuses on the development and innovation of complex drug delivery devices,“Singmed” announced the completion of its Series A financing, exclusively invested by Hongyuan Capital. This marks Singmed’s first external fundraising since its establishment. The proceeds will be used to build its drug delivery technology platforms, including pulmonary and nasal administration systems, upgrade its industrial manufacturing center, and expand its team.
Suzhou Singmed, founded in 2016, is dedicated to the design, development, and manufacturing of complex drug delivery devices, as well as the development of combination drug-device products. By enhancing the clinical efficacy of drug delivery, it provides Chinese physicians and patients with more high-quality and affordable treatment options. Leveraging its technological platforms for pulmonary and nasal administration, Singmed has developed single-dose capsule-type dry powder inhalers (DPIs), multi-dose blister-type DPIs, soft mist inhalers, and multi-actuation nasal spray devices. Its applications cover drug delivery for conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and nasal and brain disorders.
In recent years, the incidence of respiratory diseases in China has been on the rise. In particular, the large patient population with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) has resulted in a substantial disease burden, creating urgent and significant unmet clinical needs. Inhalation formulations are the mainstream therapeutic agents for respiratory diseases; by delivering medication directly to the lungs via local administration, they enable rapid onset of action, reduce the required dosage, and enhance clinical efficacy.
However, as drug-device combination products, inhaled formulations face high R&D barriers, stringent approval standards, and significant challenges in industrialization. In fact, the field of inhaled formulations for the treatment of asthma and COPD has produced multiple “blockbuster” drugs; yet, even after the expiration of core patents, few generic products have come to market. The patent and technical barriers associated with drug delivery devices constitute a major obstacle to both the generic development and innovation of drug-device combination products.
As a specialized medical device company in China focused on complex drug delivery devices, Singmed provides IP layout and breakthroughs for drug delivery, product design and R&D, scaled manufacturing and services, and drugIntegrated services such as clinical protocol collaboration,Through the organic integration of “devices, drugs, and clinical practice,”Provides a one-stop solution for the generic development and innovation of drug-device combination products.
Since its establishment, Singmed has broken through technical patent barriers and entered into commercial development partnerships for inhalation drug delivery devices with multiple leading large listed pharmaceutical companies in Asia, making it the manufacturer with the most extensive portfolio of inhalation device development in China. From high-end generic inhalation devices to innovative IP-designed apparatuses, Singmed holds fully independent intellectual property rights and has achieved commercial mass production breakthroughs in the design of medical-grade silicon chips for drug delivery and atomization chip modules.
Notably, Singmed has successfully developed dry powder inhalers (DPIs), soft mist inhalers, and nasal spray devices for multiple Chinese listed companies, and has facilitated the approval of several inhaled formulations as the first in China to pass the Generic Drug Consistency Evaluation (formal bioequivalence study). Singmed has also become the first Chinese developer of soft mist inhalation devices to break the monopoly on soft mist delivery technology and successfully pass in vivo consistency evaluation.

(Mr. Zhao Guangtao, Founder and Chairman of Singmed)
Mr. Zhao Guangtao, Founder and Chairman of Singmed, stated, “Respiratory diseases such as asthma, COPD, and rhinitis represent a major category of chronic diseases in China, affecting a large patient population. Currently, inhalation formulations rely heavily on a limited number of imported therapeutic agents, imposing a significant financial burden on patients and leaving substantial unmet medical needs. Singmed is committed to leveraging technological innovations in drug delivery devices to maximize the clinical efficacy of medications and provide patients with more high-quality, accessible treatment options. We are deeply honored to have earned the trust and strong support of Hongyuan Capital. Moving forward, with the backing of this investment, we will continue to uphold our founding philosophy and original aspirations, focusing on unmet clinical needs in China. We will deepen our expertise in the field of inhalation formulations, enhance product accessibility and affordability, and benefit a broader population of patients with chronic respiratory diseases.”
Dr. Zhu Qingsheng, Founding Partner of Hongyuan Capital, stated, “Globally, inhaled drug delivery presents significant challenges, both in the development of new products and in bioequivalence assessments for generic drugs. The technical barriers associated with drug-device combination products have long been difficult to overcome. It is highly encouraging that Singmed has become the first domestic company in China to break through these technological barriers and successfully pass bioequivalence consistency evaluations. Hongyuan Capital is delighted to partner with Singmed to comprehensively support the innovation and localization of inhaled drug formulations, thereby bringing more accessible therapies to patients in China.”
