The 14th World Congress for Hair Research (WCHR 2026) concluded on May 31 in Seoul, South Korea, after a four-day run from May 28 to 31. The congress marked the global debut of Puncture Robotic's HAIRO Hair Transplant Robot, a leading hair transplant surgical robot currently in clinical application worldwide and Asia’s first NMPA Class III-certified hair transplant robot. In addition, the company delivered a presentation titled "China's Progress in Hair Transplantation" as part of the congress's scientific program, examining the growing integration of AI and robotic technologies into next-generation hair restoration practice.

According to a report by Market Research Future, the global hair transplant market is projected to reach USD 15.65 billion by 2035, driven by the rising prevalence of hair loss and growing awareness of new technological developments in robotic-assisted hair transplants.

Faced with continuously growing treatment demand, traditional hair transplant surgery has struggled to break free from the limitations of a manual-operation-centric model where outcomes are highly dependent on a surgeon's experience, physical stamina, and real-time condition. This results in inconsistent surgical precision and follicular unit survival rates, and makes standardized replication impossible. At the same time, long training cycles for experienced physicians and the uneven distribution of quality medical resources further constrain the industry's accessibility and efficiency.

Designed as the world's first end-to-end AI platform for hair restoration, the HAIRO system integrates intelligent preoperative planning, robotic intraoperative execution, and postoperative management to improve precision, efficiency, and procedural consistency. Validated through nearly thousands of high-standard clinical surgeries, Puncture Robotic's hair transplant robot has significantly improved physicians' operational efficiency and surgical quality, driving hair transplant services toward standardization and high quality. It has transformed high-end hair transplantation from a "premium offering" available only at a select few institutions into a "standard service" that can be scaled and replicated. This also demonstrates to the industry that China's intelligent hair transplant sector has entered a new development phase centered on high-standard surgical protocols, large-scale application, and ecosystem development.

HAIRO Hair Transplant Robot is an Al-powered hair diagnosis and treatment solution

Unlike surgical robots on the market that still require a physician's hands-on operation throughout the entire procedure, HAIRO achieves a closed automation loop encompassing "follicle recognition, path planning, and precise extraction" through three core proprietary technologies: a stereo vision recognition system, an intelligent cloud-based brain center, and a high-precision force-controlled robotic arm. The physician only needs to set key parameters on the screen; the robot then fully executes the repetitive and time-consuming task of follicle extraction, with precision and stability that remain consistent even during prolonged surgeries.

As a highly intelligent hair transplant assistant, HAIRO leverages human-robot collaboration to help general physicians reach expert-level proficiency faster, while amplifying the surgical capabilities of experienced specialists. It frees doctors from repetitive tasks, allowing them to focus on high-value activities such as designing complex cases and optimizing postoperative aesthetics.

For patients, HAIRO's standardized, fine-tuned operation reduces the difficulty and risk of choosing a doctor or clinic. Its automated, minimally invasive approach not only improves follicular unit survival rates but also shortens recovery time and reduces postoperative discomfort. In particular, for individuals with limited donor area follicle resources, HAIRO minimizes follicular damage and waste, enhances the utilization rate of viable follicles in a single session, and delivers superior transplant outcomes for those with constrained follicular reserves.

Beyond WCHR 2026, Puncture Robotic continues to expand its global presence in Thailand and Malaysia as Asia's first hair transplant surgical robot brand, representing the next generation of China's intelligent medical manufacturing. Recently, the company completed a multi-million dollar Series B financing round led by a globally leading AI technology company, further accelerating its international growth and global market expansion.
