On April 22, in Hanoi, Vietnam, Valgen Medtech's self-developed DragonFly™ Transcatheter Mitral Valve Clip System successfully completed its first clinical application in Vietnam at Hanoi Medical University Hospital, marking a solid step forward in the clinical adoption of DragonFly™ in the Southeast Asian market.

As an important country along the "Belt and Road," Vietnam has seen rapid development in the field of interventional cardiology in recent years. As one of Vietnam's leading teaching hospitals and a key hub for medical innovation in Southeast Asia, Hanoi Medical University Hospital represents the top level of local healthcare.

The patient in this surgery is a 75-year-old male, diagnosed with moderate to severe mitral regurgitation caused by rupture of the posterior mitral valve chordae tendineae, accompanied by heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. After comprehensive preoperative evaluation and rigorous deliberation, it was ultimately determined to adopt transcatheter mitral valve edge-to-edge repair (TEER) to relieve the patient’s condition in a minimally invasive, efficient, and safe manner. The DragonFly™ Transcatheter Mitral Valve Clip System used during the procedure is the first Chinese-produced mitral valve interventional repair product to receive approval from both the Chinese National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) and the European Union for commercial use.

During the procedure, DragonFly™ demonstrated significant technical advantages. Its independent grasping function excelled in managing asymmetric prolapse by precisely capturing the valve leaflets, effectively enhancing operational stability. Immediately post-operation, the patient's regurgitation decreased to trace levels, marking a successful surgery.

Doctors at Hanoi Medical University Hospital spoke highly of the performance of DragonFly™:

“Very friendly, controllable to use, We would like to continue to use and help more patients.”

As a leader in the field of atrioventricular valve interventional treatment, Valgen Medtech has always been committed to promoting the global sharing of "China-original technology" and "standardized clinical solutions." The successful first implantation of DragonFly™ in Vietnam not only verified the stability of Valgen's original device in handling complex lesions but also further enhanced the surgical capabilities of TEER procedures in countries along the "Belt and Road" through international technical exchanges.

In the future, Valgen Medtech will continue to provide high-quality solutions, promote the international adoption of the TEER procedure, and contribute Chinese strength to the global health care cause.
