To all relevant entities:
As of the end of 2021, China’s population aged 60 and above reached 267 million, accounting for 18.9% of the total population. Around 2035, this demographic is projected to surpass 400 million, representing over 30% of the total population, thereby entering a stage of severe aging. The aging trend in China is characterized by a large absolute number, rapid growth rate, significant regional disparities, and substantial societal challenges.
In 2019, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council issued the National Medium- and Long-Term Plan for Actively Responding to Population Aging. The plan emphasizes “strengthening scientific and technological innovation capabilities to address population aging, positioning technological innovation as the primary driving force and strategic support for actively responding to population aging, enhancing the level of technological and informational development in elderly care services, increasing scientific and technological support for elderly health, and strengthening the research, development, and application of assistive technologies for the elderly.”
In active response to and implementation of the spirit of the relevant policy documents, the China Association for Promotion of Rehabilitation Technology Transformation and Development (hereinafter referred to as “CAPRTTD”) has undertaken the research project titled “Application Research of Digital Health in Geriatrics,” commissioned by the Department of Elderly Care of the National Health Commission. This study will conduct an in-depth analysis of practical application cases of digital health products in the field of geriatrics, actively explore the frameworks and components for constructing medical data security systems in geriatric care, identify development trends in the application of digital health within geriatrics, and analyze the development status, opportunities, and challenges facing digital health technologies in China’s geriatric sector. The aim is to enhance elderly health management services, accelerate the fulfillment of the Chinese population’s needs for proactive health management and active aging, promote high-quality development of digital technologies in geriatrics, and provide references and recommendations for the formulation and implementation of related national policies.
To better facilitate the research project, we are soliciting practical application cases of digital medicine in major geriatric conditions from relevant organizations.
We hope for the participation and support of all relevant organizations. Please click here to access the case submission form.LinkDownload.

12) Other related fields.
(2) Digital Health
Digital healthcare refers to a new type of modernized medical approach that applies modern computer and information technologies to the entire healthcare process, representing the development direction and management goal of public healthcare. It primarily includes digital diagnostic and treatment systems, application software systems, and digital therapeutics.
1. Digital Diagnostic Systems: Refers to systems including CT, MRI, CR, DR, ECT, ultrasound, endoscopy, etc.Digital Imaging Equipment; including applications such as remote medical education, remote medical information retrieval, remote consultation, and remote preventive medicine educationTelemedicine System; including those based on robotic surgical technologySurgical Robot; deeply integrating knowledge with algorithms to enhance diagnostic and treatment efficiency, and to strengthen and reshape existing medical workflowsAI-Assisted Diagnostic Systemetc.
2. Application Software System: Refers to systems that enable clinical departments to process and utilize various clinical medical data more conveniently and efficiently, including functions for departmental management, patient scheduling, and photo retrieval and documentation.Information Management System; Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), which convert medical information into digital formats recognizable by computers, and utilize computers and network communication devices to perform functions such as acquisition, storage, processing, and transmission of medical image data and associated information, thereby enabling the sharing and full utilization of medical information resources; Clinical Information Systems (CIS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), health records, Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS), etc.Information and Communication Systems. By leveraging digital technologies to visualize, make tangible, and enhance the perceptibility of health knowledge, this approach meets the precise and personalized information needs of patients and their families, making complex and professional medical knowledge more accessible and relatable, thereby improving the efficiency of doctor-patient communication.Popular Science Education Systemetc.
3. Digital Therapeutics: Refers to evidence-based therapeutic or interventional measures provided to patients, grounded in clinical medical evidence. These interventions are driven by high-quality software programs, representing the digitalization of healthcare services, with core functions aimed at preventing, managing, or treating specific diseases. They can be used independently or in conjunction with medications, medical devices, or other therapies.
