At the on-site “Holographic Rhythm of Life Exhibition Hall,” BD leveraged holographic technology to create immersive scenarios showcasing its innovative intraoperative and postoperative products and solutions. This enabled visiting guests to intuitively perceive how innovative medical technologies enhance postoperative quality of life and clinical safety throughout the patient’s head-to-toe experience, comprehensively demonstrating BD’s customer-centric philosophy and its commitment to leading the future of health.
Furthermore, the BD FACSDiscover S8 cell sorter, which had its on-site warm-up launch, can be described as one of BD’s most significant exhibits. It is the world’s first full-spectrum cell sorter with image analysis capabilities. By integrating spectral flow cytometry with morphological information, it achieves, for the first time, the integration of spectral unmixing and real-time spatial morphological data. This expands the dimensions of cellular research, unlocks novel applications, and helps scientists achieve breakthrough discoveries in less time. As the inventor of flow cytometry technology, BD has introduced this flagship instrument through its Biosciences R&D team after nearly a decade of development. The product innovatively incorporates technologies from the 5G communications sector, enabling the processing of massive amounts of data and real-time interaction within the same time frame and bandwidth. This results in more than a threefold increase in speed and a sixfold increase in data volume. This new device, based on “three-in-one” technology, will effectively assist hospitals, universities, research institutes, centers for disease control and prevention, and innovative biopharmaceutical companies in building comprehensively upgraded research platforms. It will further support the development of top-tier disciplines, the cultivation of elite talent, and the generation of high-impact outcomes, thereby addressing more complex life science questions, achieving breakthrough discoveries, and contributing to public health research. It is an epoch-making innovative product in the field of life sciences.

Another eye-catching exhibit is the LUTONIX Drug-Coated Balloon Dilatation Catheter, the world’s first FDA-approved drug-coated balloon. With clinical practice data and usage experience accumulated from over 600,000 patients worldwide, its low toxicity, low embolization rate, and long-term efficacy have been validated by extensive clinical evidence. From a product perspective, its unique patented coating technology prevents drug loss, enabling more effective delivery of the drug to the target lesion. This reduces the required drug dosage and toxicity, improves patient outcomes and safety, minimizes surgical complications, and ultimately benefits patients.
In recent years, benefiting from reforms in the regulatory review system, BD’s Peripheral Vascular business has obtained approval for market launch in China for multiple innovative products based on comprehensive and reliable overseas clinical data. Meanwhile, thanks to a clearer and more efficient review process, BD’s innovative products are able to enter the Chinese market as soon as possible after their international launch, thereby meeting the clinical needs of patients and physicians in China and delivering unique clinical value.

Deng Jianmin, Senior Vice President of BD Worldwide and General Manager of Greater China, stated, “With the support of national policies encouraging innovation, BD will intensify its R&D efforts to address unmet medical and scientific research needs. We are committed to developing innovative products that meet the clinical and research demands in China, accelerating their market introduction to benefit a broad patient population and contribute to the implementation of the Healthy China strategy. Leveraging the open, innovative, collaborative, and win-win platform of the China International Import Expo (CIIE), BD looks forward to mutually empowering more partners to drive technological innovation in healthcare. Our goal is to achieve health for all at an early date and continue advancing toward the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.”
During the China International Import Expo (CIIE), BD also signed multiple cooperation agreements with hospital groups, procurement centers, and other platforms and institutions to jointly promote the development of innovative medical technologies in China and enhance diagnostic and treatment standards. Meanwhile, BD released the “Research Report on Value Assessment and Practical Application of High-Value Medical Consumables,” providing value-based decision-making evidence for health insurance coverage and hospital formulary inclusion of medical consumables.
“Patient-centricity” is a core corporate value that BD has consistently emphasized. Technological innovation must revolve around patients to address clinical challenges and continuously meet diverse needs. To this end, BD has undertaken numerous initiatives, such as innovating payment models and collaborating with insurance companies to establish specialized medical insurance programs; taking the lead in introducing advanced products for their China debut at the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone in Hainan, enabling certain patients to access these technologies earlier; and leveraging digital and intelligent solutions to enhance patient accessibility to advanced medical products.
Meanwhile, BD has consistently adhered to the strategic philosophy of “in China, for China,” gradually establishing a complete value chain in the country that encompasses R&D, manufacturing, marketing, and after-sales services. To date, BD has invested in eight companies in China, built three local manufacturing plants, and established six training centers, two R&D centers, one customer service center, two customer experience centers, and an innovation center. These initiatives aim to serve more Chinese patients and healthcare professionals, thereby helping to advance the development of China’s healthcare industry.

“The Report to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposed accelerating the construction of a new development pattern, focusing on promoting high-quality development, advancing high-standard opening-up, enhancing people’s well-being, and improving their quality of life. This aligns perfectly with BD’s continuous exploration and strategic upgrade of its localization and innovation journey,” said Deng Jianmin, Senior Vice President of BD Worldwide and General Manager of Greater China. “On one hand, we are intensifying our efforts to cultivate local innovation by establishing a ‘dual R&D center strategy,’ with Shanghai serving as the innovation design center and multi-functional laboratory, and Suzhou as the laboratory engineering center. Based on market demands in China, we optimize product functionalities and accelerate product commercialization, thereby better meeting local market needs and benefiting more patients. On the other hand, we are strengthening local manufacturing, expanding domestic production capacity, and promoting the localization of our products. These measures enhance supply chain stability, mitigate external risks, and improve responsiveness to customers, ultimately enabling us to better serve patients and healthcare professionals in China.”
Moreover, BD remains committed to a patient-centric approach, deeply rooted in the local Chinese market environment. It actively seeks partnerships with domestic enterprises, clinical experts, government agencies, and other stakeholders across industry, academia, research, healthcare, and government sectors to build an integrated innovation ecosystem. By leveraging the respective strengths of all parties, BD aims to address unmet local healthcare needs, benefiting patients, facilitating work for healthcare professionals, optimizing hospital management, and continuously creating value for both patients and providers. Meanwhile, BD consistently promotes the decentralization of medical products and services to lower-tier markets, steadily enhancing affordability to reach more patients, thereby achieving cost reduction, efficiency improvement, and comprehensive upgrading across the healthcare industry value chain.
