Over 100 Projects Compete in the 2022 China Eye Valley Global Ophthalmic Innovation and Entrepreneurship Challenge – Finalists to Be Announced!
On October 27–28, 2022, the two-day preliminary round of the 2022 4th China Eye Valley Global Challenge for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Optometry and Ophthalmology kicked off at China Eye Valley in Wenzhou. A total of 153 projects were registered for the competition, and after a written review by an expert panel specializing in ophthalmology, 40 project teams advanced to the next stage.
The preliminary round was conducted online, featuring virtual roadshows and defenses, with judges providing real-time scoring via video link. The panel of judges comprised seven authoritative experts in optometry and ophthalmology, along with renowned investors. They evaluated the projects based on five criteria: the entrepreneurial team’s capabilities, technological advancement, innovativeness, growth potential, industrialization prospects, and feasibility of implementation, thereby offering professional insights for both the competition and the participating projects.
After intense competition, 20 project teams will ultimately emerge as winners and secure their spots in the finals. The selected projects will compete again at the 2022 International Summit on Technological Innovation and Industrial Development in Eye Health, held concurrently with the China Eye Valley Global Challenge for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Optometry, on November 11–12, 2022. Winners will receive a suite of incubation and localization support resources, including high-quality sci-tech innovation services, substantial cash awards, and preferential policies offered by Wenzhou City and Longwan District.
The China Eye Valley Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Challenge will continue to uphold its mission of attracting and nurturing talent through competition. By collaborating with maker elites, research leaders, and investment institutions in the global eye health sector, it aims to strategize for industrial growth, lead industry development, and jointly establish China Eye Valley as a new landmark for the eye health industry both in China and worldwide. As the only full-industry-chain science and technology innovation park in the field of eye health in China and globally, China Eye Valley will work alongside participating projects to actively expand global cooperation in eye health. It seeks to help build an integrated medical technology translation platform encompassing government, academia, industry, and investment, thereby jointly advancing the great cause of universal eye health.
