In the realm of vaccine innovation, Sanofi Vaccines, in collaboration with Shenzhen Zhiliaoyun Technology Co., Ltd. and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, has jointly launched a new generation of smart unmanned vaccination pods. Inside the new-generation pod, recipients need only roll up their sleeves to expose the injection site; after automated disinfection by the machine, the injection is rapidly completed, with the entire process averaging just 35 seconds. Furthermore, the pod features full-environment standard cold-chain storage and automatic vaccine identification capabilities, ensuring traceability and secure storage of vaccines while achieving “zero-error” vaccine retrieval in vaccination scenarios.
Sanofi will also premiere a short educational film on cardiovascular disease and announce the launch of “Li Guan’ai,” a WeChat Channels account dedicated to cardiovascular health education. By collaborating with social media influencers and the medical community, Sanofi aims to create innovative educational content and approaches, jointly shaping new trends in health communication.
As a "pioneer" in the digitalization of the healthcare sector, Sanofi is driving new digital advancements. At its exhibition booth, the company showcased a digital ecosystem matrix comprising eight innovative projects. Focusing on rare diseases, cardiovascular diseases, and atopic dermatitis, this digital framework covers the entire patient journey—from early screening, diagnosis, and treatment to daily disease management.
The “spillover effect” generated by the China International Import Expo (CIIE) has significantly benefited Sanofi. For instance, following its debut at the first CIIE, Dupixent®—which expanded its indication for moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis to include infants and young children—has demonstrated remarkable “China speed”: it received regulatory approval in 2020, two years ahead of schedule; achieved market supply just 25 days after approval; was included in the National Reimbursement Drug List within five months of launch; gained approval for adolescent indications in 2021; and this year, secured approval for children aged six years and older as well as adults, becoming the only targeted biologic agent currently approved in China for the treatment of moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis across children, adolescents, and adults.
In light of this, Sanofi remains firmly committed to its long-term dedication to China, leveraging its global R&D capabilities and local insights to engage more actively in China’s innovation ecosystem. At this year’s China International Import Expo (CIIE), Sanofi will announce the signing of strategic cooperation agreements with partners including the Shenzhen Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Health Cloud, and China Resources Sanjiu, working together to build a localized innovation ecosystem. Notably, Sanofi and its “long-standing partner” JD Health will announce a further upgrade of their collaboration in the internet healthcare sector. The two parties will expand their existing cooperation from the field of chronic diseases to atopic dermatitis (AD), by creating the first one-stop online platform for comprehensive AD disease management, thereby addressing the more diverse health needs of atopic dermatitis patients in the digital era.
Sanofi’s four-decade journey in China is a vibrant chapter of shared growth with the nation’s healthcare era. The “Miracle Ship” is poised to embark on its next 40-year voyage, continuing to paint a new Chinese vision that places “people’s health above all.” Guided by innovative insights into industry development and fueled by an unwavering passion to explore scientific breakthroughs for patients, Sanofi remains steadfast in its commitment to China. Joining hands with like-minded partners, Sanofi aims to lead transformative change in China’s healthcare sector, revolutionize medical practices, and make positive contributions to building a Healthy China.
