WeDoctor Signs Strategic Cooperation Agreement with Pfizer China

In recent years, thanks to the reform and optimization of the drug review and approval system, China has encouraged the early introduction of innovative foreign drugs and the concurrent conduct of clinical trials with other countries, thereby promoting the simultaneous global launch of innovative therapies and significantly improving the market environment for such drugs. Meanwhile, amid deepening healthcare reforms and the normalization of epidemic prevention and control measures, the “Internet + Healthcare” sector has developed rapidly, with health big data applications becoming increasingly widespread, bringing considerable convenience to patients seeking medical care.

Therefore, this collaboration between WeDoctor and Pfizer China will focus on leveraging digital advantages to enhance the accessibility of innovative medicines, and on this basis, explore multi-tiered innovative payment systems and patient-physician service models.

Under the strategic cooperation agreement, Pfizer China and WeDoctor will leverage their respective strengths in innovative pharmaceutical products, deep digital service capabilities, and innovative platform advantages to jointly explore and develop new models of commercial health insurance. They are committed to building a comprehensive health management platform that integrates clinical decision-making, disease prevention, and patient services, thereby creating a closed-loop ecosystem among healthcare providers, pharmaceuticals, and insurance within the commercial insurance payment framework, so as to support the high-quality and sustainable development of China’s social security system.

Yun Qian, Vice President of Pfizer’s Global Biopharmaceuticals Business in China and Head of Market Access, stated, “Establishing a multi-tiered healthcare security system is an inevitable path for China to deepen its healthcare security reforms. As a science-driven, innovative, and globally grounded biopharmaceutical company, Pfizer actively fulfills its mission of ‘delivering breakthroughs that change patients’ lives.’ Upholding the principle of ‘Science Will Win,’ we leverage innovation as our driving force and collaborate closely with Chinese government agencies and all sectors of society to foster an ecosystem that encourages innovation. While actively introducing breakthrough innovative medicines, we explore innovative solutions to enhance drug accessibility, thereby contributing to the improvement of the multi-tiered healthcare security system and supporting the realization of the grand vision of ‘Healthy China 2030.’”

To this end, Pfizer China has established a strategic partnership with WeDoctor to fully leverage their respective resource and technological advantages. By providing innovative financial payment solutions for specific medications and collaborating on inclusive special-drug insurance programs across various provinces and municipalities, as well as pilot initiatives for the early adoption of internationally innovative drugs, the partnership aims to enhance patient access to and affordability of innovative medicines and solutions.
