On November 5, the fifth China International Import Expo (hereinafter referred to as the CIIE) opened. As the world’s first national-level expo themed around imports, the CIIE has become a window for China to build a new development paradigm, a platform for promoting high-standard opening-up, and an international public good shared globally. During the CIIE, JD Health joined hands with healthcare brands such as Abbott, Roche Diagnostics, and Sanofi to achieve new progress in full-process health management for diabetes through deepened cooperation in multiple areas, including product research and development and service optimization.
According to the 10th edition of the Global Diabetes Atlas released by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) in 2021, China has more than 140 million patients with diabetes, ranking first globally, and the number continues to grow rapidly. Clinical studies have shown that more than 60% of hospitalized diabetic patients suffer from malnutrition or are at risk of it, while the incidence of malnutrition among non-hospitalized patients is as high as 30%.
To help diabetic patients ensure adequate nutritional intake while adhering to dietary restrictions, JD Health has actively introduced specialized nutritional formula products for diabetics, such as Abbott Glucerna® SR, continuously enriching and refining its portfolio of nutritional health products tailored to the needs of diabetic patients. Meanwhile, through the “Ask a Nutritionist” feature, JD Health actively collaborates with professional resources, including nutritionists and physicians, to provide users with expert guidance on selecting and consuming nutritional supplements online.
For patients with diabetes, scientific blood glucose monitoring facilitates timely awareness of their blood glucose levels in daily life and further aids in disease control and treatment. At the China International Import Expo (CIIE), JD Health and Roche Diagnostics announced a strategic partnership. Zhang Bo, General Manager of the Medical Devices Division at JD Health, stated, “This strategic collaboration with Roche Diagnostics represents a valuable endeavor to explore and expand the boundaries of JD Health’s ‘medical devices + health services’ ecosystem. Moving forward, both parties will further leverage complementary strengths to help more diabetic patients manage their blood glucose more efficiently and conveniently.”

JD Health Signs Strategic Cooperation Agreement with Roche Diagnostics
To provide diabetic patients with a convenient and standardized one-stop diagnosis and treatment experience spanning “pre-consultation, during consultation, and post-consultation” phases, JD Health and Sanofi jointly launched the “Center of Excellence for Online Diagnosis and Treatment Management of Diabetes” (hereinafter referred to as the “Center of Excellence”) at last year’s China International Import Expo, working together to promote standardized diagnostic and therapeutic protocols for diabetes. Over the past year, the Center has facilitated the implementation of these clinical standards through the development and application of online consultation tools. To date, it has served more than 60,000 patients, with the number of participating physicians increasing by 58% and the frequency of use rising by more than fivefold. By enhancing the online diagnosis and treatment experience for diabetes, the Center helps patients achieve effective self-management of their condition via digital platforms.
During this year’s China International Import Expo, in order to further promote the orderly development of full-course management for chronic diseases via the internet, both parties specially invited industry experts to provide an authoritative interpretation of the “Expert Guidance Recommendations on Online Diagnosis, Treatment, and Management of Diabetes in China’s Internet Healthcare,” the first of its kind in the field of diabetes care in China. This initiative aims to enhance the quality of online diagnosis and treatment services, with diabetes as a representative example, thereby better empowering physicians and serving patients.
Currently, JD Health leverages its “Responsible Supply Chain” to provide diabetic patients with a comprehensive range of health products, including nutritional supplements, medical devices, and pharmaceuticals. Meanwhile, through its integrated online-offline medical services, JD Health offers diverse healthcare solutions—such as health consultations, doctor-patient communication, medication guidance, and health monitoring—to diabetic patients and other users, thereby fully meeting their health management needs.
As JD Health deepens its partnerships with Abbott, Roche Diagnostics, Sanofi, and other industry leaders, it will provide diabetic patients with more convenient and professional health management solutions, thereby enhancing the efficiency of diabetes diagnosis and treatment. Looking ahead, JD Health will further expand collaborative scenarios, explore more diverse areas of chronic disease management, and advance the development of digital chronic disease management solutions, contributing to the realization of the “Healthy China 2030” initiative.
