New Horizon Health’s International R&D Center is established at the Hong Kong Science Park, aiming to attract top-tier global talent in biotechnology and high-tech industries. The center focuses on technological innovation and product development in multi-omics cancer screening, including next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies, while simultaneously advancing overseas commercialization and globally synchronized clinical trials. The first phase of the R&D center covers 10,000 square feet, with an estimated total investment of approximately HK$100 million, and will initially recruit 20–30 scientists.
Dr. Shi specializes in the research, development, and practical application of molecular diagnostics and next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies. Having served as a senior R&D executive at leading international biotechnology companies, he has repeatedly led global teams to successfully launch diagnostic and screening products for cancer and other major diseases. He brings over 16 years of extensive experience in product development and team management.
Prior to joining New Horizon Health, Dr. Shi served as the Director of Research and Development at Natera, a leading U.S. brand in non-invasive prenatal testing. She led her team in developing diagnostic technologies for organ transplant rejection and successfully launched the Prospera™ series of in vitro diagnostic products for liver, kidney, heart, and lung transplantation in the U.S. and European markets. From 2017 to 2021, she worked at Exact Sciences, a benchmark company in U.S. cancer screening, where she led cross-functional R&D teams to drive the development and commercialization of screening and diagnostic products for breast, colorectal, lung, and prostate cancers. Previously, Dr. Shi held positions as an R&D project lead or core R&D member at several U.S.-based unicorn startups specializing in next-generation sequencing (NGS) and molecular diagnostics. She holds multiple patents and has published numerous academic research papers in renowned international journals. Dr. Shi earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Food Science & Nutrition, as well as a master’s degree in Molecular Biology from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She furthered her studies at the University of Maryland, where she obtained a Ph.D. in Molecular Nutrition.
