The Metabolic Industry Park, also known as M·Campus, is an industrial cluster for metabolic diseases co-established in Wuxi High-Tech Zone. Initiated by Ning Guang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and built upon the standardized Management Center for Metabolic Diseases (MMC), the project is jointly supported through a strategic partnership among Wuxi High-Tech Zone, AstraZeneca, and Zhizhong Medical.

● Focusing on the pharmaceuticals and medical devices required for the screening, diagnosis, and treatment of metabolic diseases, gradually form an industrial cluster for the prevention and control of metabolic diseases through the introduction of innovative products or the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements.
● Build a specialized medical nutrition brand for metabolic diseases, focusing on the industry of foods for special medical purposes (FSMP) used as adjunctive therapy for metabolic disorders.
● Leverage internet, Internet of Things (IoT), and artificial intelligence technologies to serve the entire process of prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, and health management for metabolic diseases. This innovative diagnostic and therapeutic model covers the full life cycle of patients, incorporates digital therapeutics, and gradually establishes an innovation hub for digital healthcare in metabolic diseases.

In November 2021, at the 4th China International Import Expo (CIIE), the Wuxi Municipal Government, Academician Ning Guang’s team, AstraZeneca, and Zhizhong Medical jointly established a strategic partnership in the field of metabolism, building on the MMC (Standardized Metabolic Disease Management Center) model.
In December 2021, at the launch ceremony of the Taihu Bay Innovation Base within the Wuxi International Life Science Innovation Park, the Metabolic Industry Park project, spearheaded by Ning Guang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of Ruijin Hospital affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, was officially signed and designated to be established in the Wuxi International Life Science Innovation Park. This may be the first innovation park in China to focus specifically on the therapeutic field of the metabolic industry.
On August 5, 2022, the Metabolic Industry Park was officially launched at the 5th AstraZeneca China Ecosystem Conference and has since engaged with multiple innovative enterprises in the field of metabolism.

On November 6, 2022, the Metabolic Industry Park completed the signing of letters of intent with Tangji Medical and Du’an Baiyu as its first batch of scientific research collaboration partners at the 5th China International Import Expo (CIIE), aiming to jointly promote the integrated development of clinical practice and industry in metabolic diseases.

As the academic leader of the Metabolic Industry Park project, Academician Ning Guang, together with AstraZeneca and Zhizhong Medical as industrial co-builders, will leverage the planned Wuxi Institute of Ruijin Hospital and its advantageous pool of scientific research experts to establish a medical research achievement translation platform, an innovation talent aggregation platform, a technology enterprise incubation platform, and an international exchange and cooperation platform with industry-wide influence. This initiative aims to create a one-stop innovation empowerment platform in the field of metabolism, thereby promoting metabolic scientific research and industrial development. At the signing ceremony, Academician Ning Guang stated, “The biopharmaceutical industry is linked on one end to high-quality economic development and on the other to public well-being. Relying on the Wuxi Branch of Ruijin Hospital located in the High-Tech Zone, we will conduct basic scientific research in the fields of endocrine and metabolic diseases and anti-infective drugs, while simultaneously introducing and nurturing relevant enterprises to settle in the area. This will form a complete industrial chain integrating research, clinical practice, and achievement translation, ultimately benefiting public health.”

This model, on the one hand, originates from the research source. Under the professional guidance of academicians, it integrates multi-party industrial resources to drive scientific innovation, clinical translation, and address pain points in disease diagnosis, treatment, and management. On the other hand, it assists local governments in promoting the upgrading of the medical industry and building innovative life science clusters centered on therapeutic areas.
