Temedica is a digital health company based in Munich, Germany. Since its establishment in 2016, Temedica has been dedicated to operating a health ecosystem and has developed multiple applications that provide solutions for patients with various diseases and other stakeholders in the healthcare sector.
In 2020, Temedica partnered with the research institution Diademetic Academy Mergentheim (FIDAM) to develop a product namedWayaapplication. This application is designed to cultivate healthy eating habits, remind users to exercise, and help reduce the risk of developing diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. For a one-time fee of €75, users can access all features, including assessments to identify the causes of obesity, as well as tools and courses to foster healthy lifestyle habits. Users can also chat with nutrition experts and engage with other users in an interactive forum.
Waya enhances user interest and encourages active participation by developing interactive and engaging themed courses. Upon completing the course modules, users receive a certificate of participation. To incentivize policyholders with relevant needs to use the application, DAK-Gesundheit (a German health insurance company) has committed to reimbursing €74.99 if policyholders achieve weight loss through the courses and obtain the certificate of participation.
In September 2021, Temedica and the healthcare company Roche Pharma AG announced a collaboration in the field of digital support for patients with multiple sclerosis, developing a product namedBrisaThe application is designed to improve care for patients with multiple sclerosis and enhance their quality of life in accordance with the latest medical and technical standards. PermeaIt is a B2B-oriented data analytics platform launched by Temedica in January this year, providing unique insights into the entire healthcare value chain and the patient care journey. Permea supports biopharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medtech companies, physicians, regulatory authorities, payers, and patients in making decisions based on existing medical knowledge to select optimal treatment plans. The platform aggregates, compiles, and analyzes data from multiple sources, including patient-generated data, data from digital health applications, data provided by wearable devices, scientific publications, and prescription data.
Permea can provide the most effective therapies tailored to specific patient populations, explain to patients the reasons for changes in their treatment plans, and improve current healthcare protocols with innovative approaches. Furthermore, the platform expands upon data from clinical trials and supports the planning of new research initiatives. Permea facilitates more informed decision-making while continuously exploring new strategies for strategic decisions, regulatory approvals, market launch, and commercialization of therapies. These efforts aim to benefit both patients and platform partners.

Temedica developed the applicationTemedica-Apps, its core function is to tailor health solutions for users, provide personalized guidance for those with complex chronic conditions, and navigate them through the healthcare system based on their individual needs; these capabilities are enabled by the collection, integration, and analysis of the aforementioned data.
In March this year, Temedica and Bristol Myers Squibb, a pharmaceutical company specializing in psoriasis treatment, announced a partnership to co-develop a related application aimed at helping psoriasis patients better manage their condition. Psoriasis affects approximately 2 million people in Germany and is one of the most common chronic inflammatory skin diseases. Temedica will integrate patient needs and recommendations from healthcare professionals to design an application that meets the needs of patients.
Furthermore, Temedica has also developed a product namedPelvinaapplication; collaborated with other companies to develop an application for patients with rheumatic diseases.
In summary, Temedica is dedicated to developing “digital companions” for patients with various types of diseases, providing them with reliable diagnosis and treatment plans as well as personalized medical services. Meanwhile, the company has begun to focus on the B2B model to explore new commercial pathways.
Gloria Seibert, Founder and CEO of Temedica, previously served as a business consultant at McKinsey for four years. She has stated that she dealt with digitalization topics on a nearly daily basis during that time, where she recognized the immense potential of digital innovation. Coupled with her growing desire and passion for entrepreneurship, she enrolled in a software engineering school in Silicon Valley for six months, laying the foundation for her entrepreneurial journey through an in-depth understanding of digital technologies.
Her decision to pursue digital health was inspired by her grandfather. He suffered from multiple sclerosis, and although treatment protocols have improved, they remain far from satisfactory for many: patients have limited access to physicians, receive highly standardized care that lacks personalization, and this situation also places a burden on their families. This experience led her to consider whether digital tools could assist these patients, and whether data-driven insights could enable personalized diagnosis and treatment plans—making the process more efficient and convenient while enhancing the quality of patient care and management.
This original aspiration has also become Temedica’s enduring vision: to make pioneering contributions to the development of personalized medicine by linking health-related data with evidence-based new insights.
Another co-founder, PD Dr. med. Benjamin Friedrich, has a medical background. He is an experienced practicing physician and researcher in neurosurgery and neuroradiology, as well as Temedica’s digital health and data expert and Chief Medical Officer.
With over a decade of industry experience, he identified structural deficiencies in the German healthcare system, particularly its low level of digitalization. Recognizing patients’ desire to access information on treatment options outside hospital settings, he decided to take the next step into digital health. Leveraging his professional expertise, he developed a suitable digital medical platform to actively shape the future direction of healthcare.

Over the three years of the COVID-19 pandemic, people have become increasingly concerned about their health. This is an issue that affects everyone, as no one is immune to disease. According to Thomas Solbach, an author of the study, COVID-19 is significantly accelerating the digitalization of medicine. In the long run, health-related applications can serve as a supplement to traditional medical methods, providing more people with useful medical information and knowledge in their daily lives. As reported by PwC, the number of users in Germany utilizing health-related apps increased by 16% per month in 2020. This trend has also drawn greater capital attention to the digital health sector.
By leveraging cutting-edge artificial intelligence and multi-source data, Temedica helps patients with various diseases identify more convenient and effective diagnosis and treatment options in their daily lives, gain a better understanding of their bodies and conditions, and thereby improve their health outcomes and quality of life.
